Overview

The Elusive Samurai is a Japanese historical manga series, crafted by Yusei Matsui, and has been featured in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since January 2021. As of April 2024, the series has been compiled into 15 tankōbon volumes. The manga also received the prestigious 69th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2024.

The Elusive Samurai Episode 1 Preview And What To Expect!

In March 2023, an anime adaptation of the series was announced which will be produced by CloverWorks. The project will be directed by Yuta Yamazaki, with Yoriko Tomita overseeing the scripts and Yasushi Nishiya in charge of character designs. Yusuke Kawakami will assist as director, and the music will be composed by Gembi and Akiyuki Tateyama.

The anime is set to premiere on July 6, 2024, airing on Tokyo MX, BS11, GYT, GTV, and 26 other networks. The opening theme, “Plan A,” is performed by Dish, and the ending theme, “Kamakura Style,” is by Botchi Boromaru.

The Elusive Samurai Plot

The anime is set during the Kenmu Restoration, and the narrative centres on Hojo Tokiyuki. After his family is overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki finds himself on the run. Accompanied only by a dubious priest and his followers, the young lord embarks on a quest for revenge and the restoration of his family’s honour, relying on his extraordinary talent for evasion and concealment.
