The Divorce Insurance Kdrama: All to Know About Upcoming Lee Dong-wook Comedy Series!

Another week, another anticipated Kdrama of 2025 to give us a much-needed boost to our daily lives. Although this month is full of top Korean dramas, including When Life Gives You Tangerines, The Potato Lab, Hyper Knife and the Netflix Korean movie Revelations, viewers might never have enough of the exciting stories that come out of South Korea!

This time, Lee Dong-wook is back to our screens with The Divorce Insurance, a slice-of-life comedy that will tickle your funny bones and entertain you to no end. The trailer is comical as it is quirky and the unbelievable premise just adds to the madness. It also helps that the characters, all portrayed by seasoned actors, seem to be hilariously unhinged and viewers will find themselves hollering for most of the runtime.

The Divorce Insurance Kdrama Plot

In a world where there’s an insurance plan for everything, product developer No Gi-jun, who works at an insurance company, is both a commendable worker and sort of a misfit. After being married and divorced thrice, his soul is suffering as is his wallet but his conviction and positive outlook towards his past might just separate him from his peers, social conventions be damned. With divorce rates skyrocketing every day around the world Gi-jun comes up with a unique plan in this new Korean drama to insure divorces! It’s definitely a different plan and one that everyone finds amusing, but Gi-jun stands steadfast behind his idea and is resolute in his effort to offer support in a time of unexpected crisis, as he puts it.

Joining him on this crazy ride is Kang Han-deul, an underwriter who works as an insurance contract reviewer for the company. She is a patient woman and has lived her life following these morals but when she goes through her divorce, she decides to throw caution to the wind. Plus, we also have An Jeon-man, a risk surveyor who comes up with accident prevention measures and effective insurance programs, who decides to live “dangerously” by keeping his cautious personality to the side after joining the divorce insurance team. Last but not least, we have Jeon Na-rae, a financial mathematician who is sure of her abilities and her decisions and never regrets them. After divorcing her husband immediately after their honeymoon, she joins the team as a special advisory quantitative analyst.

The four teammates with varying qualities and temperaments are at odds with one another over their surprising new idea. Will they have takers? Will they be able to find a healthy balance and bring this quirky idea to life? In the midst of the work drama, there’s the obvious love connection between Gi-jun and Han-deul who find themselves drawn to one another despite their differences. Will this series write its name in the best romance Kdramas book? We will have to see to find out!

The Divorce Insurance Series Cast

This new Korean drama, also known as 이혼보험, stars Lee Dong-wook as No Gi-jun. He was last seen in 2024’s A Shop For Killers as Jung Jin-man and in 2023’s Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 as Lee Yeon. Actress Lee Joo-bin stars as Han-deul, and was last seen in 2024’s Tarot as Ji O and in Queen of Tears as Cheon Da-hye. Meanwhile, Lee Kwang-soo stars as Jeon-man and was last seen in 2024’s No Way Out: The Roulette and 2022’s The Killer’s Shopping List. Lastly, Lee Da-hee plays Na-rae and is a regular cast member of the hit Netflix reality TV show Single’s Inferno while she starred in both Island and Island Part 2 as Won Mi-ho.

The Divorce Insurance Korean Drama Release Date

The series will stream from Mar 31, 2025 – May 6, 2025. With only 12 episodes, it’s expected to have a runtime of around 60 minutes and will air on tvN at 8:50 PM KST. The drama will also stream on Prime Video in select regions. In India, viewers can expect the drama to drop around 5.20 PM IST.
