Korean reality series on Netflix have been offering the OTT platform’s subscribers a new kind of high, and adding on to that fuel is the upcoming addition of The Devil’s Plan (데블스 플랜), which has also grabbed K-pop fans’ attention owing to the inclusion of SEVENTEEN Seungkwan as part of its main cast roster. Releasing this September, the reality competition show has concocted a new concept altogether and will be vastly different from the common dating show titles on the Netflix Korea catalogue, much like how the recent premiere of Zombieverse switched things around.
The streaming giant has finally let down the curtain on the show’s details and revealed the first look at the series through the means of the first video teaser offering us a quick glimpse at this out-of-the-ordinary setup. We’ve compiled all that essential information here for you to make things easier!

The Devil’s Plan Netflix Cast
There will be 12 contestants partaking in this competition, all coming from different professional backgrounds – lawyer, doctor, Go player, celebrities, and more – and only one among them will be picked as the brainiest player of all. Jung Jong-yeon’s debuting Netflix variety creation will star Ha Seok-jin from Problematic Men, Korean professional Go player Cho Yeon-woo, freelance announcer Lee Hye-sung, actress and inventor Lee Si-won, SEVEENTEEN’s Boo Seungkwan – K-pop idol who’s also celebrated for his wit and adept variety skills.
Joining them, Seo Dong-joo – a MIT graduate and a lawyer in America with an MBA degree, comedian and actress Park Kyung-lim, Guillaume Patry – a Canadian gamer, now a professional poker player, Kwedo – former policy advisor to the Blue House, and Kwak Joon Bin – a travel YouTuber, a multilingual speaker.
Other than these famous names, two non-celebrity contestants of the show are Seo Yoo-min – American orthopaedic surgeon, and Kim Dong-jae – a college student, now a professional poker player.

The Devil’s Plan Concept
Packed in as a brain competition, the show’s first teaser video unveils a look at its conspicuous hooded host, who may even remind many viewers of the Squid Games antagonist. The multifaceted cast of the show will indulge in a series of games, trumping each other through their pure mind genius in a week-long camp. Be it schemes or tricks, the ultimate goal for all of them remains to win the final prize that amounts up to 500 million Korean Won.
As expected of a cast list including public figures like celebrities and influencers, many of them tend to keep their social masks on and retain their professional personas in front of the camera. But when recruited to the mysterious out-house (“Game Town”), where the “Devil” will be testing them through various challenges and games, they’ll be left with no choice but to reveal their true faces. The show’s format will compel these 12 contestants to push the boundaries of their understanding of themselves and their thoughts because in this survival of the fittest, their tactful resourcefulness will be put to test, while other suspenses and mysteries are unveiled simultaneously.
From the looks of the teaser, it seems as if the show will also be assigning these participants certain roles to play out for the bigger picture, (probably like the ‘Mafia’ game) while smaller and in-the-moment challenges are also dealt out to them.
The Devil’s Plan Release Date
The show will start streaming exclusively on Netflix on September 26, 2023.
