Fatih Terim is a Turkish coach and former national football player who played in the defence position. He served as the coach of Galatasaray, one of the Super League teams, for many years. In 1962, he started playing football in Adana Demirspor, who then moved to the 1st League as the champion in the Turkish 2nd League, attracted the attention of everyone with his game and transferred to Galatasaray the next season.
While playing football in Galatasaray, he also assumed the captaincy of the team. He became one of the most loved players of all time and played 327 matches in the yellow and red jersey. However, he could not enjoy the league championship during his football career, but he won the Turkish Cup twice, the Prime Minister’s Cup and the President’s Cup once.

All of his dreams that he couldn’t fulfil as a player, he worked hard to achieve them as a manager of the team that he once played in. And once he took charge, Terim’s instincts to change up the team’s game-time philosophy pay off as Galatasaray begins a run of consecutive Turkish League championships.
If you have been a fan of football for a while, then you must have been aware of the Turkish legend and the victories that edged his name in history. Year by year from the Turkish national team to Italy’s Serie A, Terim’s managerial career experienced exhilarating wins and hard-fought losses.
The documentary shows how much he loves what he does and has a unique understanding of the game that he developed while playing as a central defender, which shows up in his coaching tactics. But take that man out of his work and he is a reserved, nature-loving person who puts the utmost importance on his family.

Summing Up: Terim
The sports documentary series is all about Fatih Terim and how he made a name for himself in the world of football in his country and outside. If you are a fan of football then it might be of interest to you, no matter if you have something positive or negative to say about the man.
The series starts off with a quote about what people have achieved tends to be forgotten so quickly, sometimes you struggle to remember and it needs to be told by someone who was actually there. Therefore, the film is made to show everything he has achieved in his life, more like a personal video memoir with the hint of a dramatic TV series.
After watching the whole series though, I can say that he is a man of pride and principles which often become a hurdle in his career as he resigns from one team to another. It’s certain that in any industry the one with power doesn’t like the radicals who challenge their authority and if you aren’t as talented as Terim, you either submit to them or become unknown.
Terim is currently streaming on Netflix.
