Tastefully Yours Episode 3 Recap

Episode 3 picks up from last week as a drunk Chun-seung harasses a drunk Yeong-joo, who teaches him a valuable lesson on respecting others’ spaces. She asks him why he’s here, but eventually it comes out that she didn’t really hear anything (or maybe she’s just keeping that information to herself for now). She comforts him about losing his girlfriend to his brother, which leaves him embarrassed.

The next day at work, Beom-woo arrives with a bald spot on his head and then asks for the recipe of seopsanjeok, but Yeon-joo refuses to comply. Just then, the landlord barges in with new tenants and informs them that everyone is talking about the restaurant going under and that she wants to be prepared. They simultaneously realise that Chun-seung has been spreading rumours about them and go off to confront him immediately. Suddenly, they get a visit from different departments of the government for violation reports.

This leaves everyone frustrated, and as Yeon-joo goes to the district office, Beom-woo and Myeong-sook report Chun-seung’s restaurant for the same violations. The difference is that it does land him in trouble. As revenge, Chun-seung parks his car in front of the restaurant, and Beom-woo does the same. Of course, the tit for tat ends in Yeon-joo getting angry with Beom-woo.

The problems, however, just don’t end frustrating Beom-woo further. The next morning, he accompanies Yeon-joo to the Jang house because she is unable to reach the meju maker, suspecting Chun-seung of causing trouble. However, at the Jang house, she realises that the meju maker is unwell and she decides to make the meju herself. After a hard day of work, however, they find themselves stuck in the rain, and Beom-woo runs off with Yeon-joo holding her hand. They share a moment under the bus stand as the rain patters down on them, leaving them both speechless.

Unfortunately, the moment is ruined when Beom-woo gets news of a fire destroying the restaurant. Yeon-joo immediately goes to confront Chun-seung, and a fight breaks out at his restaurant. His tune changes when they mention the police, and Chun-seung starts to beg for mercy since arson is a serious crime. As he promises to give them all of his money, Yeon-joo asks him to get the restaurant up and running in 3 days, which he happily accepts. However, Beom-woo is extremely unhappy about the turn of events.

Back home, Yeo-ul admonishes Seon-woo for the signature dish that they are about to introduce courtesy of Jang Young-hye, and he immediately starts to look into Beom-woo’s whereabouts.

The next day, Chun-seung and the gang start to work on redoing the restaurant. Myeong-sook, meanwhile, finds pictures of Yeon-joo as a chef at a fancy restaurant. Chun-seung, on the other hand, is unable to do anything at the restaurant, and Myeong-sook admonishes him harshly, resulting in him bursting into tears. He opens up about his own dreams in front of the others, which softens their hearts for him. Beom-woo even helps him learn how to redo the wall tiles.

Afterwards, the vegetable shop owner makes a surprise visit and hands them a flyer for a two-day food truck contest where they can win 5 million won. Chun-seung promises to turn in their application in 15 minutes, and they arrive just in time to force the teller to take their entry. Later, as Chun-seung tries to light a cigarette, the audience is shown that someone else was responsible for the fire at Jungjae.

Elsewhere, Young-hye makes a surprise appearance in front of Beom-woo, who makes things extremely uncomfortable for everyone when Yeon-joo stumbles upon them. However, when Young-hye tries to leak all of his secrets to Yeon-joo, the latter asks her to stay out of their business, leaving them both slack-jawed.

What a charming and silly episode this was! Of course, we needed Chun-seung to complete our restaurant staff, and we needed the fire incident to make things a bit more complicated with the entry of this new arsonist guy, and you know what, I am totally here for it. Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si are insanely charismatic and share awesome chemistry. The sparks are flying, and for once, I am not complaining about the romance brewing within the first few weeks.

All in all, I am enjoying the series till now. Let’s hope it stays on track!
