Task Episode 2 Recap

Picking up from last week, Robbie is left baffled when he now has to take care of the young boy who became orphaned after their robbery goes wrong and they end up killing his entire family. As Tom and his team scour the area for Sam, Jayson gets the news that his entire family was killed.

Things get more complicated for Robbie and Cliff when they find out that the bag of cash that they were supposed to rob was actually a bag of fentanyl. Robbie immediately decides that they need to sell it off before anyone sees it in their possession. When Sam wakes up, Robbie gets time to bond with him. Elsewhere, Jayson is left fuming as he seeks answers and decides to gather the troops to get to the bottom of who wronged him.

Elsewhere, Tom and Anthony interview Kaylee, Peaches’s girlfriend, to learn more about him and his friends, but she becomes irate and eventually has a breakdown. Later, Tom gets his team to meet up for a status meeting, while having a difficult time dealing with his feelings for his personal life. After learning everything about the Dark Hearts, Jayson and discussing why the perpetrators might be going after them, Tom and the gang conclude that whoever is setting these robberies up is a part of the Dark Hearts, someone who is deep inside.

Meanwhile, the pressure increases on Jayson to find the perpetrator responsible for spilling their own blood. Jayson, thus, comes up with the idea of following the fentanyl that the robbers stole and decides to loop in Freddy, the only buyer who would take in that much of unprocessed drugs. Elsewhere, Tom gets intel about a guy who was beaten to death for a supposed rule violation a few years back within the Dark Hearts, and it turns out to be Billy, Robbie’s brother.

Back at home, Maeve has the terrifying realisation about who Sam is as tensions rise between Robbie and Cliff. Meanwhile, tensions also rise in Tom’s house when Ethan’s sentencing comes up, and Emily mentions that she wants to make a victim impact statement, setting Sara off. However, Tom tells Sara that it’s easy to talk about forgiveness when it’s not our loss, but we still have to move towards that end goal to have a semblance of normalcy in our lives.

That night, Meave drops Sam off at a nearby store and calls the police to find him. As the police gather, Maeve is shocked to find Sam back in the car and decides not to hand him over, even lying to them to get away. Elsewhere, as Jayson gets the news about Peaches, he goes to visit Kaylee and shoots them both down. Elsewhere, Tom finds Emily, and Robbie realises that he’s been caught.

What a disturbing turn of events for Tom and Robbie as things not only get more dangerous but also more complicated for them both. As the Dark Hearts get ready for revenge after finding who took Sam, Robbie walks a thin line that can result in him losing everything. Moreover, I like the tense family situation that Tom finds himself in, and his complicated backstory simply makes things even better. All in all, Task is a tense thriller that doesn’t shy away from giving us a healthy dose of drama.
