Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 Overview

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 (구미호뎐 1938) is a sequel to the much-loved fantasy Kdrama of the same named and is directed by Kang Shin-hyo and Jo Nam-hyung. The Kdrama stars Lee Dong-wook, Kim So-yeon, Kim Bum, Ryu Kyung-soo, Kim Young-ji, and Hwang Hee alongside other cast members.

The sequel brings the gumiho Lee Yeon away from his happy ending and back to the year 1938 where he once again comes face to face with his brother Lee Rang and Ryu Hong-joo. Now, he has to find a way to return to the present and to his loved one, but this isn’t something that will come to him easily.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:20 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Pandora Beneath the Paradise.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 Plot

The synopsis of the show reads: “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 tells the story where Lee Yeon was dragged back in time to the year 1938 unexpectedly due to certain events that happened after the end of season 1, where he met Lee Rang and Ryu Hong-joo of that era.”

A murderous air surrounds Joseon while Yeon decides to follow the one behind this. On the other hand, Rang bets on his life which angers Yeon as he rushes to get back his brother’s life. Elsewhere, Ryuhei Kato’s plans are set to bloom while Hong-joo sides with Moo-young. A bloody night is soon to arrive.

Yeon and Moo-young find Hong-joo but realise that she is not who she seems to be. Elsewhere, Taluipa finds out about what is going on and worries about what is to happen. Rang is tricked into dropping his blood on the thread that he holds and opens the door for Jang San-beom to enter this world.

Meanwhile, Yeon realises that Jang San-beom is trying to turn them against each other and openly mocks him. Jang San-beom then rushes through a wedding with Hong-joo who now stands as a barrier between him and the two men.

The two realise that is happening and try everything possible to finally get her to wake up. They then defeat the Jang San-beom before making their way out with Eun-ho by following the thread on Yeon’s finger. However, after sending the two, he turns back to see Moo-young missing.

The two come face to face and Yeon confronts Moo-young who soon attacks him. Right then Rang arrives to save him during which Moo-young reveals his future to him. Meanwhile, Ryuhei has something planned for the demons of Joseon while Hong-joo finds out Moo-young’s plan. Elsewhere, Yeon is ready to go all out against Moo-young.
