The docuseries covers the events of the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia and this time, through those who survived the horrifying events that changed their lives. The series not only brings together interviews of US military soldiers but also of Somalian citizens who fought and were caught in the chaos of the day. Alongside these interviews, the series also brings videos captured by a Somalian journalist and dramatizations of the events that give you a clearer picture of the events.

I have to say, this is one of the most captivating military docuseries made as it not only brings a very clear picture of the events but also interviews those whose lives have been changed through the events. Every individual interviewed in this series remembers the events of the day so clearly because it was a trauma that is something that isn’t to get over. We can see the emotions and memories attached to the events of October 3rd and 4th, 1993, which they remember like yesterday.

The series not only shows the stories of these people from their own point of view but also combines them all to bring the whole picture to us all. I loved how the documentary doesn’t take any sides, it shows the story of both the US military men and the Somalian people without any bias. The picture is clear and it is now for the audience to decide what they think about the events. And to add to the facts, we also have the videos captured by the journalist who captured all these events to show them to the world.

I also loved the suspense of what happened to the citizens who were being interviewed. They share these life-changing events, but they also keep us hanging onto our curiosity about what happened to their lives at the end of the fateful day. The revelation at the end is definitely worth it and makes me all the more hooked to the series.

This three-part series is definitely worth the watch as it not only brings in some interesting storytelling but also gives us a perfect blend of various ways to look at a documentary. The combination of interviews, videos, and acting is so wonderfully and smoothly done that it is hard to feel even a moment’s distraction. The series flows smoothly and brings about a wonderful experience for viewers.

The shift in every scene is beautiful; these transitions not only keep the curiosity of the audience intact but also bring a clearer picture to the audience. You can feel the horrors of the day, the change in every event, and how this battle changed it all for many.
