After seeing the pilot episode of Sue Perkins: Perfectly Legal, it’s hard to take your eyes off the screen. The show explores the various cultural traditions of different Latin American countries and Perkins’ interactions with them. Don’t be fooled, for this isn’t just a cultural travelogue. Perfectly Legal is a three-part series that sends Sue Perkins across Latin America exploring “dangerous, risky and uncharted” territories.

Sue Perkins: Perfectly Legal Docuseries is Amusing and Absurd
While people have always been very comfortable in their skin, one thing that has struck as they inch ever-closer to middle age is the increased media frenzy about what it means to be a middle-aged woman and how it’s all supposed to look – or ‘feel’ or ‘smell’- take your pick. It definitely isn’t supposed to be doing the sort of adventurous, brightly lit, hugely entertaining stuff that TV presenter Sue Perkins brings us in this new series on Netflix.

It shares the funny disasters of Sue as she explores Latin America in her quest to face her middle-aged fears, but what makes the story is Sue’s unique perspective on life that we haven’t stopped talking about since we watched it. Sue Perkins travels to Latin America to discover the hidden stories behind its tourist hotspots.
One of this generation’s most famous British comedians has given up TV stardom to visit a series of Latin American countries in adventurous but ultimately inexperienced ways. Sired by a love for the Latin music and culture, Sue Perkins is at her best when confronting middle age head-on.

Sue Perkins is Famous for Being Funny, and It Works Perfectly in the Travelogue
Immerse yourself in different cultures through Sue Perkins’ new show, Perfectly Legal, as she seeks to shed light on the intricate relationship between law and social issues. Sue takes a proactive approach to understanding Latin Americans by living, using public transport, and interacting with people on the street — all while honouring the law.
Sue Perkins fears ageing (don’t we all?) and does everything she can to confront it. I mean, everyone needs a good dose of reality once in a while. I love travelling and thoroughly enjoy watching travel documentaries on TV; my favourites are Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. They make me want to travel to places I would usually avoid. This is what Sue Perkins’s series Perfectly Legal does for me.

Perkins successfully challenges the viewer to discover Latin America in a new light, which is more challenging and exciting. She takes on various challenges that make you cringe in your seat and is empathetic as she discovers new ways of living in older cultures. Pushing the boundaries of the travelogue, Sue Perkins discovers the beauty of Latin America.

Perfectly Legal Docuseries Is the Apt Change In Sue Perkin’s Pace
This compelling and original travel-doc series offers a unique spin on the middle-aged crisis stories we’ve become accustomed to seeing. For its host Sue Perkins, this isn’t one of those contemplative pieces where she looks back at her life as she nears 50, but rather a spirited discussion of her mortality.

In other words: it’s time to go big or go home. And going big for Perkins means Latin America, where she’s on a quest for meaning and adventure in her later years. This time she is trying to get to the root of the Latin American way of life. Not just by travelling, but like any good program should be doing: by experiencing it!
