Study Group Episode 9 Recap

The episode opens with a scene from the past when Oh Jeong-hwa tried to hold a disciplinary committee meeting for Han-ul only to face her untimely death. Now, the situation has once again arisen but with a different teacher this time. While the study group members are happy looking at the changes taking place in the school and cannot help but be grateful to Ga-min for bringing this change.

Meanwhile, Hye-gyeong meets Geon-yeob, who is the son of her former teacher, but is surprised when he asks her to not hold the meeting. He tells her how his mother died because of this meeting and hopes the same doesn’t happen to her, but Hye-gyeong is adamant about her decision and doesn’t take his advice. Elsewhere, Han-ul’s father is told about the meeting but Han-ul tells him not to worry as he will take care of it.

The next day, news of the group members being bullies and thugs is spread across town through news channels and on the internet. The group barely makes their way inside the school; elsewhere, Hye-gyeong is told by the vice-principal that a meeting will be held against Ga-min and the others if she doesn’t let go of her decision. Hye-gyeong talks to the members and tells them to bear with whatever is happening for the time being but they are shocked to see everyone getting into fights after the fighter ranking app pops up with a notice.

Seeing the school turn back to its old ways has everyone lose their moral as Se-hyeon becomes the first to move. Meanwhile, the others see their room thrashed in front of their eyes as they are forced to dissolve for the time being. With a warning from Han-ul to get Hye-gyeong to cancel the meeting, the group is left to think about the happenings of the moment.

Elsewhere, Se-hyeon rushes to his father’s workplace where he sees him fighting others who called Se-hyeon a thug because of the rumours flying around. Se-hyeon is hurt by the changes and seeing his father like this, thus, he decides to quit school and join work. The study group is slowly falling apart as Ji-u also sees how Hee-won’s parents take her away from her due to the rumours. Soon, Ga-min sees Se-hyeon leave the study group chat and is left wondering how he can fix everything.

As happy memories of the time spent together come rushing to Ga-min, he is not ready to let go of his precious friends this easily. Later, Hye-gyeong is ready to cancel the meeting with Han-ul when she comes across Ga-min clearing the study group room and joins him. With a newfound positivity, they are ready to work hard and the next day, Ga-min appears in front of Se-hyeon who is ready to take his father’s place.

However, Ga-min persistence to study and go to college together finally breaks him and he agrees to go back to school. Later, they head to get Hee-won and later Ji-u. Lee Jun, who had been waiting for a reply from the members, happily joins them and the group is soon back together. Meanwhile, the vice principal is shocked to know that Hye-gyeong will be going forward with the meeting regardless of everything else as she holds a responsibility towards all her students and not just those in the study group.

With this, the grand finale is ready for everyone as the study group heads towards clearing their name while Hye-gyeong moves forward with the meeting.

Study Group Episode 9 Review

This episode has to be an emotional rollercoaster for the group as a whole as they try to scale the weights of their dreams and the reality check Han-ul has given them. While it was certainly hard for them to move forward with their dreams, a unique and beautiful friendship plays out here which has been formed through this study group. We can see why Ga-min stands in the centre of all this; it is not just his super strength but also his persistence to get everyone together and have them enjoy studying which brings him there.

Meanwhile, I love how this episode also shows us a different side of Han-ul; a side that is different from the top bully that he is been known as all this while. There is surely something more to his character and this is something that is bound to keep the show running for way longer than just these 10 episodes.

Altogether, the show has been intriguing us all this while and has continued to do so even today. With this, we are ready for the final episode of the show with just as much excitement that we have held all this while!
