Stuck With You aka Happy Nous Year is a French romantic comedy movie on Netflix directed by Frank Bellocq. It stars Kev Adams as Gael and Camille Lellouche as Hannah. Stuck With You on Netflix starts with Gael, dressed in a dinosaur costume, on a call with his girlfriend. He’s looking forward to celebrating the New Year party with her. Hannah, who is also on her way to a party, enters the same building elevator as Gael. However, the elevator gets stuck, and because of the NY celebrations, they don’t get any help easily. Gael and Hannah have no choice but to bond with each other to steer their mind off being stuck inside a big box.
In reality, if someone gets stuck in a lift/elevator, it will cause panic. One might start freaking out from the first minute itself. In Frank Bellocq’s Netflix film, Hannah freaks out a bit, while Gael is super chill. It seems he’d prefer being stuck instead of going outside for the party.
In the first 15 minutes, we get an idea of Gael and Hannah’s personalities. Gael is cool as a cucumber, while Hannah is short-tempered and physically aggressive. She kicks Gael twice in between the legs out of frustration (or fear?). Slowly, the strangers start opening up with each other and talking about their childhood, work, and romantic relationships.

At times, the elevator looked like a small room because of how spacious it appeared on the screen. But if the movie is shot in a real elevator or a small setup, then Charlie Lenormand has done a great job. Most of the movie takes place inside the four walls, and we are made aware of it. Yet, not even once do we feel claustrophobic, nor do the scenes appear messy.
Ken Adams and Camille Lellouche have done an amazing job as Gael and Hannah. Their camaraderie, chemistry and performances make Happy Nous Year a fun watch. The duo shine in emotional moments but also have some silly and weird physical comedy scenes that make you chuckle.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Stuck With You is a sweet, silly, slapstick watch on Netflix. The simple and funny storytelling and good performances keep you entertained. The film’s length works in the favour; otherwise, watching 2 strangers in an elevator for 2 hours and coming out alive and happy would’ve been preposterous.
