Still Shining Episode 8 Recap
Episode 8 starts with a flashback showing Eun-a rushing to Yeonwoo after her internship ends. She wishes to speak with Tae-seo and clarify things. As she asks for a lift in a police car, she overhears an elderly couple speaking with the cop and asking him for help as their truck has got stuck in the ice. As the conversation proceeds, she learns that it is Tae-seo’s grandma and that they both couldn’t send off Tae-seo since he’s off to the military. On hearing this, she feels miserable as she couldn’t be beside Tae-seo, and it will take 2 more years for him to return.

Back in the present, as Tae-seo requests Eun-a to rule out Teongyeong, she tells him that it isn’t the right time to talk. She manages things at the guesthouse and returns to Tae-seo’s apartment in Seoul. Tae-seo, who is heavily burned out due to both his grandma and brother being sick at the hospital, tries his best not to misjudge Eun-a. Eun-a asks Tae-seo to meet her as she wants to talk to him.
To her surprise, he drops by her guesthouse, and she shows him around. She takes him to the flower field and explains how she always feared the truck which was once in front of her guesthouse. She had issues with the land, and the guesthouse was about to get demolished until now. She then plucks some flowers and gives it to Tae-seo and asks him to keep them beside his grandma.

Post this, Eun-a spends most of her time at the guesthouse managing everything. However, life for Tae-seo crumbles. His grandma’s vitals fall, and his younger brother feels heavily useless. Tae-seo decides to visit Eun-a for comfort. At the guesthouse, Seong-chan tells Eun-a that he is going to move out of the guesthouse rooms, and he proposes a drink to celebrate their farewell. After he puts her to sleep and comes out, Tae-seo witnesses it and mistakes it.

Hearing Seong-chan’s ruckus, Eun-a comes out, and both of them realise that the guy inside the truck is Tae-seo. Devastated by what he saw, Tae-seo doesn’t wish to confront but rather choose his family. As he leaves, Eun-a collapses on the floor, breaking down as she fears he is going to leave. Seong-chan, who realises that she broke up with him because of Tae-seo, tells her that she is worse than So-hyeon and leaves brokenhearted.
Eun-a runs behind Tae-seo’s truck, but he has already gone too far. At the hospital, Tae-seo sees his grandma fighting for her life. It is evident she isn’t going to make it. Seeing his younger brother and grandfather breaking down, Tae-seo tries to stand strong. The next night, when Eun-a rushes to Seoul and then to Yeonwoo to find Tae-seo and explain, the latter breaks up with her over the call, saying things are too much for him to handle. The episode ends with the two crying their hearts out.

Still Shining Episode 8 Review
Eh, why is this episode so emotional? Can this series, for once, chill out? Anyway, it’s evident that both of them do love each other, but their timeline is messed up. Life is too hard on them, and they’re way too fragile to handle their emotions. Hence, all they can do is just dump each other. But why? What does a relationship have to do with life’s responsibilities? It’s sad, though, that Eun-a is fighting over her guesthouse whilst Tae-seo is burned out due to his family pressure.

Amidst this, the misunderstandings due to Seong-chan are absolutely devastating. Can Seong-chan leave for good? He is frustrating me at this point. Their breakup over the phone isn’t loud, but it cuts deep, leaving both of them shattered. Their first breakup was over the phone, and their last breakup was also over the phone. Hopefully, they unite!
