Spy x Family Episode 15 Review: Struggling with the Upcoming Exams

The 6th episode of Spy x Family was definitely a fun ride for the viewers, but not so much for our beloved Anya. Now, without further ado, let us jump right into the review and see this episode went.

Spy x Family Episode 15 Overview

After the successful first season, it was only natural that we would get a second season for the Forger family. The anime is back with stunning animation, clearly influenced by the triumph of season 1 and a fast-paced storyline that will never cease to amaze the audience.

Furuhashi Kazuhiro directs the anime, and on the other hand, Wit Studio, CloverWorks is in charge of its animation. “SOUVENIR” by BUMP OF CHICKEN is the opening theme, whereas “Shikisai (色彩)” by yama is the ending theme.

Spy x Family Episode 15 Review and Recap: Studying with Uncle Yuri

Spy x Family really never has a dull episode in its arsenal. Just like usual, the 6th episode as well delivered endless entertainment with a lovable cast and ridiculous situations.

Anya’s worst nightmare is here as the first midterm exams are just around the corner, and we who know how terrible she is at studies and she is already scared about her future.

But Anya has no problems with it in the beginning. She is pretty chill about the whole ordeal because she knows that she can easily score the highest in the exams with her powers. And for a moment, you even believe that it is possible. But sadly, due to a specific reason, even that is not possible. The explanation behind this is definitely an important fact about her powers that we never knew before, and it might become essential information in the future.

Now that Anya will have to study properly, it is time to do everything within her power and prepare for the exams wholeheartedly. Interestingly, Yuri, who also used to be a very intelligent student, is called forth by Yor to help her daughter pass somehow. Now, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as the entire episode focuses on how the whole Forger household gets down to business to make our Anya pass by hook or crook.

I was laughing the entire episode. Anytime Yuri comes on the screen, he is guaranteed to make you chuckle with his antics and bizarre obsession with his sister.

As this was the first meeting between Anya and Yuri, even she got a taste of how weird Yuri can be by reading his mind, which only has thoughts for his beloved, ‘nee-san’.

Surprisingly, the rapport between Anya and Yuri while studying is quite good, as he motivates her to do her best for her exams. But motivation alone would not help, would they?

The second half of the episode also introduced a new character, who was a piece of work, to say the least. With lofty goals and devil’s luck, he could have been the ultimate rival to our Loid, but alas, he is too stupid for his own good.

He, too, served nothing but entertainment, and we most likely will never see him again. But that does not deny how well-written he was as a character making us ask for a future showdown between him and Loid if possible.

Verdict

Spy x Family has mastered the art of delivering comic elements without being cringe or repetitive. You root for the characters and fall in love with their courage, personality and stupidity. This episode again offered an artful animation with great storytelling, and honestly, I just love the fact that by the end, Anya was still smiling. Watch Spy X Family on Netflix.
