Spiderhead: Everything to Know About Chris Hemsworth’s Upcoming Netflix Release

Spiderhead is an upcoming sci-fi thriller film on Netflix, which is based on the dystopian short story Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders. The story was first published in The New Yorker in 2010. It is directed by Joseph Kosinski and the screenplay is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Chris Hemsworth who stars in the film is also a producer of it.

The film is anticipated to be one of Netflix’s big releases this year, especially after the director Joseph Kosinski’s successful release of Top Gun: Maverick, this month. The film has a runtime of about 1 hour and 47 minutes and is expected to follow a didactic theme which is common in the work of author George Saunders, as it usually talks about the role of work and despair in society.

Spiderhead Film Plot/Synopsis

The official Netflix synopsis of the film reads as – A prisoner in a state-of-the-art penitentiary begins to question the purpose of the emotion-controlling drugs he’s testing for a pharmaceutical genius. In the film, the two inmates played by Miles Teller & Jurnee Smollett, form a connection while grappling with their pasts in a penitentiary run by a brilliant visionary (Chris Hemsworth) who experiments on his subjects with mind-altering drugs.

In the trailer, Jeff agrees to some science experiments on his body as it allows prisoners to reduce their sentence time by volunteering for such experiments. They are induced with various drugs and claimed that they are helping revolutionise the science field as their contribution will help a lot of people. But are things really as noble as it seems or some tricks are being played on them?
