Meanwhile, cautionary whispers from the institution’s children warn her against meddling with drawings depicting the immaculate soul of the Hail Mary, insisting that inscribing names invites a malevolent curse. Narcisa grapples with uncertainty, questioning if what she witnesses is real or a product of her desires.
