Sister Death: When and Where is the Spanish Horror Film Releasing?

The plot of the film Verónica revolves around a teenage girl who, along with her friends, decides to conduct a seance using an Ouija board during a solar eclipse. Their intention is to contact Veronica’s deceased father. However, something goes terribly wrong, and they inadvertently unleash malevolent forces into their lives.

In post-war Spain, young novice Narcisa, gifted with supernatural abilities, approaches the church’s father seeking absolution for perceived transgressions. He listens intently as she reveals her newfound role as a teacher. As days pass, sinister events plague her, compelling her to unearth the shadowy secrets enshrouding the convent and haunting its denizens.

The church’s father believes Narcisa has a vital purpose within these hallowed walls. Meanwhile, cautionary whispers from the institution’s children warn her against meddling with drawings depicting the immaculate soul of the Hail Mary, insisting that inscribing names invites a malevolent curse. Narcisa grapples with uncertainty, questioning if what she witnesses is real or a product of her desires.

The film is directed by Paco Plaza and written by Jorge Guerricaechevarría who is well known for his work in Cell 211 (2009), The Oxford Murders (2008) and The Laws of the Border (2021).
