Based on the book written by Ali Novak, the My Life With the Walter Boys is created by Melanie Halsall and directed by a team of directors namely, Jerry Ciccoritti, Winnifred Jong, and Nimisha Mukerji. The series’ main cast includes Nikki Rodriguez, Sarah Rafferty, Marc Blucas, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis, Alisha Newton, Zoë Soul, Isaac Arellanas and more.
The story follows Jackie Howard, who moves to a country town after her entire family’s tragic death. She moves in with her late mother’s best friend, Katherine Walter, and her husband George. Surprisingly, she meets 10 kids– 1 adult, 7 teenage boys, 1 male toddler, and an adolescent girl— and has to live with them. On the go, two teenagers Cole and Alex start falling in love with her and leave her perplexed. Who would she choose? Will she fall in love with either of them or cut them off and follow her dream to enter Princeton?
Now that we figured out who she is choosing, (I don’t want to spoil it, so do watch the series if you haven’t), it’s now time to find out other similar shows like this one to keep exploring how teenagers view the world, especially when it comes to romance. We have a list for you so check it out and enjoy.
6 Shows like My Life With the Walter Boys
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – 2019
High School Musical starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will never cease to amaze one. However, the series version starring Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, etc, is also quite amazing. The entire show captivates the viewers with lots of music, jokes, and of course stunning actors. Moreover, the romance aspect is present throughout so it is worth the watch if you’re into high school romance. You also get to see how American teens are and how schools work, so why not give it a shot?
My First First Love – 2019
This K-drama is a wholesome watch given you have two seasons to satisfy your desire for more. The story follows a girl’s choice between the handsome second lead and her best friend (the main lead). Never Have I Ever – 2020
Of course, the Netflix hit showcasing the life of an Indian girl in the States can’t be missed when we speak of the Teen Romance genre. With her life going up and down, the main lead goes through various relationships, exploring her teenage years. In the end, she finds her true love and the boy she chooses is definitely not the one you would guess in season 1.
XO, Kitty – 2023
The popular series that came into light after the success of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved franchise, did its part well. One of the Covey sisters, Kitty, goes to meet her long-distance boyfriend, and things change from then on. Being the matchmaker for others, Kitty now has to figure out her match all on her own. Is her final choice the one or is she up for more?
Heartbreak High – 1994
With over 7 successful seasons, this classic series, to date, is working just fine among teenagers as it explores various pressing themes like romance, LGBTQIA+, drug use, sex education, and so on. So many relationships are shown to provide various perspectives and various other storylines help in presenting the lives of teenagers through their lens.
Meteor Garden – 2018
The Chinese Remake of the famous Japanese Manga Boys Over Flowers is possibly the best remake as it avoided all possible unnecessary add-ons and has better fashion statements. Though the Korean remake is popular, the Chinese remake is the most appreciated globally. Speaking of the story, follows the life of a teenage girl who meets four arrogant guys, the ones who rule the school. She never gives up and keeps fighting back at them and their ruthless behaviour, leading them all to quickly bond in no time.
