YG Entertainment’s associate record label, The Black Label, has released the Shoong performance video teaser featuring BIGBANG’s Taeyang and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, ahead of the music video’s upcoming release. In April itself, the news of this cosmic collaboration came to light and fans of both artists are hyping it since then as they’re both well known for their beastly aura in the performance arena.

Teased as an addictive R&B track, this song will be a part of Taeyang’s upcoming second EP, Down to Earth. In November 2013, the BIGBANG singer released his solo digital single titled Ringa Linga, which also hinted at Lisa’s brief presence in the MV’s background. Circa 2023, a decade later, fans’ dreams are coming true as the historical collaboration will set the record straight. The teaser video itself marks the growth of each of the two singers as they exude unparalleled confidence.
Most importantly, one has to take into account that the forthcoming video premiere won’t just be a regular music video dropping alongside an album, rather it’s being promoted as a ‘Performance Video’ in all its glory, further raising the stakes and expectations for what’s in store. The track’s title is an onomatopoeic reference to the sound made by speeding cars, hinting at how the two artists are also racing ahead in competition and leading as victors in the music scene.
Previously, Taeyang joined hands with BTS’ Jimin for the single Vibe in January, the video for which has already crossed 100 million views on YouTube. Now, within a few months’ time he’s ready to deliver yet another striking collaboration that’ll prove his stature and position in the K-pop industry again. Other than Shoong, the soloist has also the leading single of his album – Seed – which is likely to be a soft ballad, starkly contrasting this track’s melody and vibe.

Lisa recently made history with the rest of her girl group members at Coachella 2023 by becoming the first Korean act to headline the main event. In addition to performing their group songs, each member also showcased their solo performances on the Day 2 stage of the music festival. Both she and Taeyang shared the same music label (YG Entertainment) initially, however, in December 2022, the latter signed up with the label’s subsidiary agency, The Black Label, while the American record label, Interscope Records, represents him internationally.
