Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 6 Overview

Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 6 Title

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie, or Kawaii Dake Ja Nai Shikimori-san in original Japanese is a comedy, romance, and slice of life anime based on a manga written by Keigo Maki and serialised in Magazine Pocket. It is being brought to the medium of anime by Studio Doga Kobo, whose previous shows have included similar themes and appealed to a similar demographic as Shikimori-san. Plastic Memories and Monthly Girls’ Nozaki Kun are a part of Doga Kobo’s catalogue.

The series is being directed by Ryouta Itou, who has previously directed shows like My Senpai is Annoying and has done animation work in several others. This episode is also known as Kawaii Dake Ja Nai Shikimori-san Episode 6. You can read our review of the previous episode of the show right here!

Izumi Mom Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 6

I wonder how many anime and manga series so far have featured the fireworks festival in some manner. The number has to be in the thousands, if not the tens of thousands. All these media have probably exhausted all unique content that can be done with the genre staple, resulting in all of them looking at least somewhat generic. However, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel to be enjoyable and entertaining while still remaining true to your core. All you need to be is fun, and you are golden.

This is exactly how I would choose to describe Shikimori Episode 6. There wasn’t anything to dislike about this episode if you are aware of the standard tropes of the genre and came to watch the show because of them, and not in spite of them. This episode gave the viewers exactly what they came to see. There are some fantastic moments between a lovely couple, a ton of visually beautiful fireworks, and a general aura of heartiness that is hard to replicate.

Shikimori Gun Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 6

Shikimori’s hair is a phenomenon. Her character design is the epitome of eye-catching, but the way the author and showrunner pay special attention to the fact that her hair is different in a lot of episodes and put effort into bringing it to life is very affirming. The show knows its audience, and who they came to watch the show for because other than Shikimori, the show’s character design is quite lacking for the most part. However, Shikimori’s charm is undeniable and enough to make the people watch the show just for her.

The show also did Izumi justice this week, as not only did he not fail in any major way, but he also succeeded in making Shikimori feel like the luckiest woman on the planet. He doesn’t get to do this very often, so it is not hard to predict how he felt after doing that. The entire scene, surrounded by fireworks and filled with some great moments, was a pleasure to witness. There was even some Inu-Neko action in this episode, which is always welcome.

This episode was also able to showcase Izumi’s parents one more time and how lucky he is to have them. They are both a little stereotypical, but like everything else about this show, they are incredibly charming and sweet. The way they care for both Izumi and Shikimori as a son and daughter (no, not that kind) is great to see and makes you wish that it was you who was being praised and cuddled like Izumi probably is. Then again, no one is as good a guy as Izumi. There was also another glimpse of Shikimori’s brother in this Shikimori Episode 6, and he remains just as elusive yet captivating as ever. A good episode for the family members!

Verdict

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 6 was another great outing by the show who excels in making episodes such as this one- sweet, charming, and fun.
