Shark Tank India Season 2 episode 1 premiered on Sony LIV and Sony Entertainment Television on January 2, 2023, and put the second outing of the entrepreneur reality show underway. The show is now hosted by renowned comedian Rahul Dua, and is joined by six sharks, namely, Anupam Mittal Founder-CEO of Shaadi.com – People Group; Aman Gupta, Co-Founder-CMO of boAt; Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals; Vineeta Singh, Co-Founder-CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics; Peyush Bansal, Founder-CEO of Lenskart.com and Amit Jain, Co-Founder-CEO of CarDekho Group and InsuranceDekho.com.
The first episode brought on three teams to deliver their pitches on day 1. While the first two were credited with their share of offers, the third and the last team’s offer was turned down due to reasons that the audience can’t come to terms with.
After the first episode’s telecast, only two things can be widely seen trending under the show’s title on Twitter. Firstly, the mention of the third team of Recode Studios’ pitch being rejected simply because its creators walked on with a rival business against Vineeta Singh’s SUGAR Cosmetics. And the second one is the evidently palpable absence of Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of BharatPe.
Grover’s patent dialogue that made waves during the first season of the show is now being used as a meme to shun the acts of the second season’s first episode itself. The viewers are severely dismayed by the lack of professionalism exhibited by the sharks as a means to keep their interpersonal relationship with each other intact.
Taglines like “the motto of this show is to encourage entrepreneur, not to discourage” or “friendship over business not done” and more of the sort surfaced as the fans came to the aid of Recode studios on the social media platform. Some even went on to promote their Instagram handle to spread the word for their business and though the sharks may have refused to pay heed to their offer, netizens have surely made it a point to take this chance to publicise the company’s name.
The viewers will not letting this one slide easily. Season 2 of Shark Tank India has kicked off to a bit of a controversial start as the audience raises significant questions about the sharks’ treatment of the pitchers, and how this could endanger every other business idea walking on the same front as that of the sharks.
