Shaakuntalam Review on Twitter: Samantha Ruth Prabhu Starrer is a Snooze Fest, Claims Cinegoers!

Shaakuntalam Review on Twitter are coming in as soon as the first show of the film is getting over, however, most cinemagoers were left disappointed with the epic story. The film is written & Directed by Gunasekhar, Presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations in collaboration with Gunaa Teamworks, and Produced by Neelima Guna. The cinematography is done by Shekar V Joseph and the music is given by Mani Sharma.

The ensemble cast includes Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Shakuntala, Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, Allu Arha as Prince Bharata, Sachin Khedekar as Kanva Maharishi, Kabir Bedi as Kashyapa Maharishi, Dr M Mohan Babu as Durvasa Maharishi, Prakash Raj as Sarangi, Madhubala as Menaka, Gautami, Aditi Balan as Priyamvada, Ananya Nagalla, Jisshu Sengupta and others.

Based on a popular play Abhignyana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa, the film revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from Mahabharata.

The story follows Shakuntala, the daughter of Vishwamitra & Menaka who gets abandoned as a child, only to grow up in a secluded hermitage of the sage Kanva. On the other hand, one day King Dushyanta while on a hunt comes across the hermitage & gets mesmerised by the beauty of Shakuntala. That’s how start their epic love story.

However, being dressed as a commoner, his real identity doesn’t get revealed but he leaves a ring with her to come looking for him, along with it. But things don’t go as planned, leading Shakuntala on an adventure to find the one she loves while also making him realise that she is the one he gave his heart to.

However, this romantic adventure was not able to convert the same greatness as literature into the screens. Many viewers expressed that the story had a very slow pace that they suddenly started to remember all the chores that they needed to do, added with some poor quality VFX – the overall experience was not all that they had expected.

While the major reviews are not in favour of the film, the fans are more than happy to just see their favourite stars on the big screen. As many have posted videos of bursting crackers in front of the theatres or blowing confetti inside the theatres.
