Servant Season 5: Will There Be Another Installment of M Night Shyamalan’s Psychological Thriller?

Apple TV+’s crown jewel of a show just released the finale of its fourth season and since so many people are wondering whether there would be a Servant Season 5, we decided to take it upon ourselves to let you all know. This show is created by Tony Basgallop and executive produced by the legendary director M Night Shyamalan. It stars Lauren Ambrose, Nell Tiger Free, Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint, and other cast members.

This series follows a small family in Philadelphia when a significant loss leaves them helpless and needy for support. When Leanne comes into their home, things become better for the worse.

Servant Season 5

The show recently ended its fourth season by making it a semi-conclusive ending even through the storyline. The main character Leanne dies in the episode and it is revealed that she brought back Jericho all this time and can continue to bring people back to life as she did with Julian in the second season.

Additionally, the creators of the show had also confirmed when it was being greenlit for a fourth season that it would be the last. However, after the events of the last episode, there are many speculations as to what might be happening next for the characters of the show. When Leanne is burning up in the fire we can see her body disintegrating as the creators allowed us to see. But when the police officers came to check up on the flat and see how the fire was caused they weren’t able to find anything or anyone.

Perhaps Leanne’s last hurrah resides in the fact that she is now free from both the Church and the Turners to do whatever she wants now in order to live her life in peace. But since she isn’t in contact with Dorothy, it might tempt her to come back. Or, Leanne may still have left some gifts for the Turners in the form of Julian who had overdosed in an episode from the second season and was brought back to life by Leanne.

At the end of the finale, we see Julian walking to the coffee shop and coming out when Officer Reyes stops to speak to him. Reyes already spoke to Dorothy and revealed that she is also a part of the Church, and now that the audience knows that too, her walking up to Julian is very suspicious. She stops in front of him to have a conversation and tells him that he has now been given a second chance at life and that things will be changing very quickly for him. He has a responsibility along with this privilege to do good in the world and to the people around him.

In the grand scheme of things, it is all starting to take shape in front of us, and when the reflection in the cafe glass shows Julian with angel wings, it feels like serendipity. He is destined for something else and something more in the story world. The final shot has him looking directly into the camera lens and ending it with ‘Holy Shit.’ This is perhaps the best ending for the character but is still not very satisfyingly a good ending of the show.

There are many questions that haven’t been answered and it looks like it might not be if there is no Servant Season 5. However, fans may not need to lament for too long because it is entirely possible that M Night Shyamalan may announce a spin-off focussing entirely on Julian’s character and his new abilities. There would be so many questions, including whether he would actually join the Church or be an outsider of their rituals, or if he would completely renounce the abilities this may have given him and straightaway focus on the aspects he can control with this new information.

  1. It would clearly be an injustice to the viewers to bow out with that ending! After four straight seasons I am left completely in the dark as to who Leanne really was, her intent is left wide open. I feel as if we have been lead down or up a spiral staircase to which there is no ending, no reasoning. Each episode I kept hoping for new answers to the mystery but instead each ending lead to more confusion. Now we are being told that the writer M Night Shyamalan is no longer interested in going any further!!? What a disappointment. I feel as if I clearly wasted my time watching the 4 seasons of the Servant.
