The episode opens with Xylo charging headfirst into battle, ruthlessly taking down the zombie-like creatures in his path. He succeeds in rescuing a handful of survivors, but their safety is short-lived. Eventually, they manage to carve out a temporary refuge for those left behind, turning Xylo into a symbol of hope for the group. These survivors are laborers who are painfully aware of how little their lives matter in the larger scheme of things.

As Xylo and the civilians brace themselves for what comes next, they barely have time to organize before the faeries and zombies launch another assault. The battle is fierce, with Xylo leading the charge and holding the line. Meanwhile, Teoritta is furious at being kept away from Xylo, her knight. Back on the battlefield, the situation grows increasingly grim, as every time a wave of faeries is defeated, another quickly replaces it.

Just when things seem hopeless, Teoritta arrives and turns the tide, saving everyone from being overwhelmed. It is revealed that she slipped away on her own, a decision Xylo strongly disapproves of.

The band of heroes goes to a different city, where they decide to take a much-needed rest before venturing somewhere else. Xylo rests in his jail, whereas other heroes like Dotta spend their time getting drunk. In such a scenario, Teoritta brings a game to Xylo so that they can play and have fun. She also asks Xylo if he will take part in the ongoing event where the holy knights will participate, and Xylo firmly denies. This episode begins lightheartedly as we also see an unexpected side of Xylo, who likes to read poetry.

Apparently, he even dreamed of being a poet once, but has long dropped the idea. Teoritta was absolutely shocked after hearing this. Following this, Kivia comes to meet them with information regarding another operation. But they decide to discuss everything while roaming around the city and seeing what it has to offer. Here, the comedic tone stays for a short amount of time, then it quickly becomes serious when Kivia talks about some secrets regarding Teoritta. She expresses her gratitude towards Xylo for saving her men and the civilians later.

Teoritta’s existence was confirmed in the northern ruins, and the Holy Knights were sent to manage and utilise her. Regarding this matter, the military and the church did not see eye to eye, and in a way, it is a blessing that Teoritta formed a bond with Xylo. Following this, they discuss the next mission, which becomes all the more important after Xylo learns what the military actually planned to do with Teoritta.

Here, Kivia discloses that the heroes are supposed to defend the fortress they are currently visiting. And the heroes are told to defend the fortress with their lives, meaning that they are expected to die. Needless to say, this episode becomes another example of how ruthlessly the heroes get treated in this world.

This was another really good episode, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The animation was decent, and the storyline progresses nicely with a bit more information about the lore. We did not get much action here, but in the next episode, we should witness that in ample amounts.
