Selena+ Chef Season 4 Finale Review: Let the Cooking Geniuses Have Some Fun!

Selena+ Chef Season 4 Finale is here! We know it is too soon but, all good things must come to an end. An idea conceived during the pandemic that still remains intact and is thriving, this HBO Max show was conceived by Selena Gomez’s affinity to learn cooking while she was in quarantine like the rest of the world. Putting the lucrative idea into play, the series came into being and with its fourth season, it seems like something everyone is getting a hang of.

Selena+ Chef Season 4 takes place at a Malibu beach house, where Selena is staying with her friends and family for the summer. However, people who are a Disney fanatics or have followed Selena from her Disney years to this HBO show must have already noticed the connection the house has to the children’s channel. The house Selena is boarding in is the same one used in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana. It was also featured in HBO’s Big Little Lies.

The show is developed by Aaron Saidman, who is known for his works that include Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies, Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer and various others. Saidman and Gomez serve as the executive producers alongside Eli Holzman, Leah Hariton and Melissa Stokes. The production companies involved as The Intellectual Property Corporation and July Moon Productions with the show being distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment.

Singer-actor Selena Gomez is the presenter and host of the show, with a format that welcomes new guests every episode, who join her in her cooking endeavours. Selena+ Chef Season 4 Finale consists of four episodes in total (episodes 7 to 10). The runtime for each episode is 30 minutes.

Selena+ Chef Season 4 Finale: Too Soon a Goodbye

The pace at which HBO Max has released the episodes of Selena+ Chef Season 4, seems like too quick a ride to be on. What started 2 weeks back is already ending and, we are surely not done with all the good learning and enjoyment that comes with cooking. However, the finale which has four episodes did have some massive guests to look forward to.

In Selena+ Chef Season 4 Episode 7, we have Canadian chef and restauranter Matty Matheson taking the lead when it comes to cooking. The plate after Matheson’s episode glistens with Miami-style ribs and hello dolly bars. Next up in episode 8, we meet the YouTube personality, the Indian-American sensation Priya Krishna. An Indian-like course goes en route and in this episode, we learn how to make a classic Indian lunch that includes Dahi toast with cilantro chutney, a veggie-filled Kamchumber and a sweet Shikanji.

Activist and chef, Paola Velez graces our screens next. The James Beard nominee creates an indulgent, sweet and savoury menu that includes beef empanadas and a chocolate cookie icebox cake. The season finale with the tenth and last episode of Selena+ Chef Season 4 welcomes the legend and icon, Gordon Ramsay.

The last episode with Gordon Ramsay also marks the first in-person episode of the show. The plate we get at the end is definitely the one meeting our expectations and higher. We see butter-basted steak, pan-seared scallops and so much more.

Selena+ Chef Season 4: Final Verdict

Let us be honest, Selena+ Chef is enjoyable but, surely not as much as it was during the pandemic, given the intent of the show was different then and the scenario has visibly changed. However, Selena Gomez did manage to host some amazing people over this season which remains the highlight of the show and, unfortunately, not the cooking.

Maybe with the changing scenario, the makers can also change the way they have approached the show and make it more connectable. Nonetheless, fun stays intact in Selena+ Chef Season 4.
