Scam 2003 The Telgi Story Teaser: Hansal Mehta Comes Forth With a “Scoop” on the Ingenious Scheme That Shook the Nation

As a follow-up to the 2020 series Scam 1992, Hansal Mehta is coming back with the new chapter of a financial thriller series. The Scam 2003 The Telgi Story teaser released by SonyLIV on August 4, 2023, has opened a new box of secret findings by carrying forth the franchise set on unravelling the major scams recorded in modern India. If the first chapter brought us the infamous Harshad Mehta Story, then the next one is dead set of resolving Abdul Karim Telgi’s Stamp Paper scam, dated exactly twenty years ago.

Produced by Applause entertainment, in association with Studio NEXT, the series will be helmed by the Scoop director Hansal Mehta and directed by Tushar Hiranandani as it finds its source story from the Hindi book titled Reporter ki Diary, penned by journalist Sanjay Singh, who broke the news on the scam back in the day.

Scam 2003 The Telgi Story Trailer SonyLIV

Although the trailer first brings into picture all the actors who previously led the former season – Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta, Chirag Vohra as Sudhir Mehta, and Chirag Vohra as Ashwin Mehta – it briefly lends us a distant first look at those helming the characters of the new series as well. Largely focussing on the grand nature of the scam in question which involved the swindling of 30 thousand crore rupees. Veteran actor Gagan Dev Riar is set to come forward with his portrayal of the titular convicted Indian counterfeiter, Telgi.

If you’re not too familiar with the depths of the real-life account, then we would like to remind you that Telgi is the Indian counterfeiter who earned huge sums of money by printing fake stamp paper. When narratives of such kind come to the top, one can’t help but dive deeper into the official involvements in the case that made it all possible too. Therefore, it’s quite likely that the series will shed light on the prevalence of corruption as well, and other silent ties that made it possible for the whole operation to take off the ground and reach such great heights.

The Scam 2003 SonyLIV will bring the shocking scam back into the limelight by blowing off the lid on its underlying unimaginable scheming and whatnot. We’re yet to catch a better look at the cast of the show, but we can rest assured that the Indian OTT platform has again come up with something novel and daring that you wouldn’t want to miss out on this September.

The story’s crux may remind viewers of the recently released Shahid Kapoor starrer web series Farzi, wherein he played a similar role of not earning, rather “making money”.
