Roar First Win: THE BOYZ Commence the Winning Streak for Their Latest Comeback at Show Champion

Signed under the label IST Entertainment, THE BOYZ have bagged the Roar first win at Show Champion on March 1, 2023. This victory follows their latest comeback with the 8th Mini Album Be Awake on February 20, 2023, for which the aforementioned title is the leading track. Today’s win for the K-pop boy group has also been recorded as the members’ overall 18th triumph through the course of the band’s promotions since its debut in 2017.

Other K-pop group song in the run for the Top 5 position holders were STAYC’s Teddy Bear, TNX’s Teddy Bear and SEVENTEEN BSS’ Fighting, in addition to solo artist Lee Chan-won’s Wish Lanterns alongside Roar, which ultimately took away the title for this week’s ‘Champion Song’. THE BOYZ’s latest mini album has six songs on its tracklist – Awake, Blah Blah, Savior, Horizon and Diamond Life, alongside the titular track taking the second spot on the list.

The South Korean boy group now has eleven members – Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric. Hwall, a former member, parted ways with the group in 2019. The fourth generation K-pop boy band debuted on December 6, 2017 with their debut EP titled The First, which was led by the single Boy. Moreover, the members have also contributed to the makings of the Solo Leveling Webtoon OST titled Echo in 2022.

The dark-themed gritty song picks on supernatural motifs in the music video. However, despite, its grave and fiery look, the song’s tune is playful with a whistle constantly supporting its rhythm, making the song an easy and soft listen for one’s ears. The Bs, i.e. the collective name for the group’s fans, are already up and about with the celebrations for their favourite artists, and trending hashtags like #ROAR1stWin and #THEBOYZ18thWin.

Performances for today’s broadcast, i.e. Episode 465, were dealt out by tripleS, San E, STAYC, PURPLE KISS, TRI.BE, TNX, HAWW, LUCY, LIMELIGHT, 8TURN, Nam Dong-hyun, Serri, Park Rossi, Song Min-kyung and Kim Tae-yeon.
