– No Spoilers –
After the incidents of the last part, we see Kora and her remaining band of warriors step up for Veldt as the full force of the Realm rains down on the peaceful village. As everyone strategists to protect their new homes, they must face their pasts and the reason they fight a battle that most would deem fruitless.

The problem with Rebel Moon is that it thinks it is something more than it actually is. Filled with emotionally resonant moments to make us root for its characters and the reason for their being, the first part is a sadly forgettable entry from Zack Snyder and the second part, giving us more of an in-depth look into the Motherworld, Kora and her merry band of soldiers, doesn’t make us feel much more. Djimon Hounsou, as Titus, constantly screams motivational quotes because he knows these farmers aren’t going to get far otherwise.
Either way, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, much like its predecessor, is entirely forgettable and honestly doesn’t add anything else other than an extended action sequence that ends how you’d expect it to. Cliched through and through, I don’t know whether I want this series to have three parts or wish for it to have only one. There’s nothing worth remembering in this story because everything that we see somehow feels already watched. With huge franchises such as Star Wars coming before it, I guess it’s difficult (not impossible, though) to surprise the audience with something fresh surrounding the intergalactic fight between the torturer and the tortured.
Unfortunately for us, thus, we get another lukewarm movie that again provides no thrills but is somehow able to provide some emotions for us to know our characters. That’s not a bad thing, because otherwise all of these people are extras who are meant for death… which they are anyway. The problem with movies like these is that they let us know exactly who will die far earlier than we need to know. After that, it’s just a matter of winning bets.

The emotional scene where everyone comes clean feels forced and the dramatic element is not lost on anyone. It feels a little funny and a lot unnecessary and it probably would’ve made more sense had we not seen a million flashbacks that make this scene feel lazy. Maybe scattered around and added with more subtlety would’ve been a better bet. In its current state, though, it feels like a roll call and you gotta answer with your biggest secret before going on a warpath.
Throughout watching this 2+ hours odyssey, I couldn’t help but wonder the point of it all – why make this huge production with big stars to tell the same tale? It doesn’t offer anything worth remembering and apart from the great cast, what is in this movie that sets it apart from movies of the same genre? Personally, I didn’t find anything to keep me hooked. Sure, Kora’s journey is inspiring and all but inspiration is not going to keep me hooked for 2 hours. That’s precisely where the movie loses us – there’s very little else to see other than Kora and the team’s dedication to their new home and some convenient plot twists that give us an expected ending.
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: Final Thoughts

There’s not much to look forward to in Rebel Moon Part 2 because the storyline feels disjointed and the actions, although looking great, feel stale and cliched. Nothing happens in the movie that is new or refreshing and throughout the runtime, I wondered why I was rewatching something that I have probably watched many times before in a different packaging… but less gripping.
Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver is streaming on Netflix.
