Randeep Hooda Talks About Sarbjit After It Completes 5 Years

On 20th May 2021, Omung Kumar’s debut direction movie Sarbjit was released. Today it has been precisely five years since the movie’s release, so we are here to talk about it. Sarbjit starred Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in pivotal roles, and it’s needless to say that both were at their best in the movie. But what blew our minds was the transformation Randeep Hooda went through for his character in the movie. He completely went out of his way and came in a never-seen-before look for the powerful-yet-vulnerable character Sarabjit. The actor celebrated the fifth anniversary of Sarbjit by sharing the BTS pictures of his transformation.

Randeep Hooda’s transformation for Sarbjit

To do justice to the glorious character of Sarabjit, Randeep had to drastically lose weight to portray the life of Sarabjit in imprisonment. He also had to grow his hair and beard and go through various transformations, which enabled him to give us an ache in our hearts and feel the pain the character was going through. However, all his hard work paid off as he was critically acclaimed for his performance in the movie and loved by the audience.

Randeep shared two pictures on Instagram showing the BTS of his drastic character transformation. In the first picture, he is seen sitting in prison with messy hair, shackles and a beard. In the next one, he is seated on a chair with short hair and a clean look. He looks extremely skinny and is seen seated surrounded by his chopped hair from the last picture. He captioned the picture as “#5yearsofsarbjit @renukapillai_official”, tagging his makeup artist as well.

Story of Sarabjit

Sarbjit was based on actual events. It was based on the life of a man Sarabjit Singh who was an Indian Sikh farmer. He was arrested for false allegations imposed on him by the Pakistan government of spying on Pakistan and was accused of the bomb blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad in 1990. Sarabjit served more than 20 years of cruel imprisonment in Lahore and died in 2013 after some prisoners attacked him in the Lahore jail. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was also one of the leads, played the character of Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur who fought for years to prove her brother’s innocence.
