Hit The First Case: Rajkummar Rao Unpacks the Raw Action Sequence

Rajkummar Rao sat down with Netflix India to share all the behind the scene anecdotes while filming his action-packed chase sequence in Hit The First Case.

In this latest video with Netflix India, you can see Rajkummar Rao rooting for his character Vikram as he chases the bad guys. He breaks it down by revealing every tiny detail that went into making it work.

The said action scene was shot at a location in Jaipur, so everything you see in the movie is actually happening and hasn’t been merely graphically edited on a green screen. The crew of the film switched between various locations at night for its fulfilment.

Filming for the same took place throughout the course of the entire night. While it sounds quite exhausting, Rajkummar Rao’s retelling of it exudes a sparking enthusiasm. He speaks of Jaipur’s Johri Bazar, a place that lights up at night, which especially translates well on screen.

The shot for this specific scene was set up at around primetime, 8:30- 9:00 pm when other cars were also spotted on the road.

And while the actor himself had already gotten into the scene and mood for the filming while driving his jeep, others travelling alongside him would often call out his name. Ultimately slipping out of the character due to the distraction, he would wave at them and hint at the shooting happening at the moment.

Rajkummar Rao talks about how the lights at Jaipur’s Johri Bazar took their filming to the next level at night.

Thereafter, the actor mentions proudly, “This is me, Rajkummar Rao doing some action”. He goes on to add that he’s “a trained martial artist” but it was quite unsettling that no one ever offered him a chance to flaunt his moves. Thankfully, Sailesh Kolanu, the director of his latest flick made it happen.

While re-watching the scene and going through the same emotions felt at the time, Rao feels that it all felt “so real, so raw” as to the way they shot the fight sequence. He believes that if you let a few people go off the rails, they would definitely engage in a brawl in a similar manner.

Finally, as he hits the pause button, he cordially invites the audience to meet his onscreen persona Vikram on this “thrilling and intense ride” that is Hit The First Case.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “Burdened by old demons, a troubled but brilliant detective sets out to solve two confounding abduction cases — one involving his own girlfriend.”
