One can say that the Jutul family pretty much owns Edda, helping it grow as a popular tourist destination showcasing nature while polluting it at the same time. While Vidar owns the factory, Ran is the principal of Edda Secondary School wherein the Jutul siblings are the most popular. Vidar knew Magne’s father and when he meets Magne, he “senses” something unusual in the kid. We later find out that he has more to him than just sensing things.

Isolde’s death while paragliding down from the glacier where she and Magne had gone for a hike takes a heavy toll on him. The police declare her death as an accident and close the case. However, Magne hears different explanations of Isolde’s death every time despite knowing how she really died. He was there when she died after hitting some live power lines.

We soon find out that it was Vidar who killed Isolde because she had discovered a secret tunnel that the melting glacier had revealed. She knew that the water of Edda was being adversely affected by the chemicals from the Jutul factory.

Magne is slowly realizing the powers that are developing within him, like increased strength, rapid healing and increased speed. He has developed feelings for another girl in his class, Gry who however is interested in Fjor. Fjor likes her too and the two end up making love. This is unacceptable for the Jutuls who cannot ever be involved with humans in any way. Thus, Fjor is told to kill Gry.

Magne and Isolde’s father Erik (Odd Magnus Williamson) have been searching for clues that might help them find out more about Isolde’s death and what she was looking into. Erik finds her phone at the spot they used to visit when she was a kid as well as a sample of the water from the glacier in a test tube.

He hands them both over to Magne who finds out about the hidden tunnel as well as the highly contaminated water that is going into every Edda household. Unfortunately, when he brings the cops to the tunnel, the hundreds of barrels that he had seen the night before are no more there. It seems that Vidar has had them moved after being informed by the cops.

Ragnarok Netflix Season 1 Ending: What is the End Result of the Fight Between Magne and Vidar?

Ragnarok Season 1 ends with Magne saving Gry from Fjor before he could kill her though unwillingly because he loved her a lot and she reciprocated those feelings. Vidar too arrives at the scene and after making Magne bleed, is about to rip his heart open when Magne, in all his rage, brings down a bolt of thunder, throwing the two apart. The last shot shows Magne’s hand moving while Vidar lies motionless.

Magne is definitely alive but is Vidar alive too? As per the old lady, who unlocked the powers that were lying dormant in Magne, upon the latter’s arrival at Edda, “Ragnarok” was just the beginning. So if we consider the fight between Magne and Vidar as the battle between the gods and the giants (that led to the end of the world), then it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Vidar is alive as well. It waits to be seen whether Fjor changes sides with Magne, now that the former knows that he won’t be accepted by his family. Season 2 has a lot in store as the war has just begun.
