Prison Cell 211 Ending Explained: The Mexican series ends after Juan’s transformation as he begins a new life, with nothing binding him at last. While his life takes a drastic turn, Calancho also sees an end that frees him from being another’s lapdog while the prisoners also find themselves coming out of the chaos soon after.

The plot of the show follows a Human Rights lawyer who is trapped inside a border town prison during a riot. With no way out, he adopts the identity of an inmate and tries to survive using his mind through the dangerous web of violence. However, things take a turn when he is told to find an important prisoner trapped inside and thread through the dangers of the situation. Desperate to get out and reunite with his pregnant wife, he begins his plans to find the person.

As Juan looks for ways to get out of prison, he finally gets a chance to make an escape but is locked inside and told to cooperate with the police and find out where Baldor is kept. With no other road in front of him, Juan begins to look for where Baldor is hidden. However, things are getting chaotic outside the prison where families of inmates are trying to find out what is happening inside. Among them is Juan’s pregnant wife Helena who is also trying to know about his condition.

Meanwhile, things get messy inside the prison when Calancho’s sister’s corpse is thrown inside, pushing him into taking his frustration out on Baldor. As he forces Juan to chop his hand off, the result of this is that now Baldor’s life is in danger. With no way left but to get help from outside, they contact the police and tell them to be prepared. But when they come out to where the ambulance is parked with Baldor and Juan, something unexpected happens.

What Happened to Juan’s Wife Helena?

When the crowd outside the prison gets bigger and more chaotic, some forces purposefully create trouble forcing the police to throw tear gas at the public. As the mob gets chaotic, Helena is caught up in this mess and finally, she is pushed to the barricade and her pregnant belly is hurt in the process. As she begins to lose consciousness, some women nearby help her but are unable to get her any medical help.

When Juan comes outside with Calancho and Baldor, he sees Helena sitting on the ground and tries to reach out to her. Meanwhile, the women around Helena try to get her medical help, but Juan’s actions create havoc, and he is pushed inside the building. On the other hand, Helena is finally given some medical attention, but it is too late, and she loses her life. However, this news is kept from Juan for the time being while Baldor is given treatment.

Does Juan Escape from Prison?

While the news of his wife’s death is kept from Juan, he understands that something is wrong and is now enraged. He along with the prisoners trick the police trying to get inside and he finally gets his hand on the man who is responsible for his wife’s death. As he delivers a deadly blow to the man, he becomes one with the prisoners inside.

Later, when Baldor is rescued by the police, he decides to stay back inside while claiming that he has unfinished business. However, he too knows that there’s nothing waiting for him outside which is why he has decided to make this place his new world.

What Happened to Calancho?

With the chaos finally settling down after Bardos has escaped, Gandara enters the prison to end Calancho. However, Calancho does not wish to die at the hands of the man who once ruled him and wishes to be free in his own way. Thus, despite Juan’s plea to escape, he hands Juan a dagger and conveys his wish to him without having to say any words. As all the men in the prison gather around and raise their hands in acceptance of Calancho’s decision, Juan finally frees the man from his binds as a dog who served a master and sends him off to his sister.

What Happens to Juan at Last?

After Calancho’s death, Juan decides to stay together with the inmates in prison. As one king dies, another rises up to his position; Calancho may have died but he let Juan his position in the prison to take over. Juan is now at the top among the inmates, but his journey has not come to an end as he soon finds himself in a meeting with the Governor.

Will there be a Prison Cell 211 Season 2?

Juan’s journey surely hasn’t ended as smoothly as conveyed by the final scene where we see the governor coming to meet him. Meanwhile, there’s someone on top of Gandara and he is not someone easy to mess with. The power he holds is beyond Juan’s imagination and he is definitely coming to him.

Juan is now a changed man and someone who has completely integratintoith his life inside the prison. But the power he holds is something that is craved by many. As the episode ends with calling him the crown prince, the title of the final episode conveys that a new King has come to play which means, there’s more to come. Thus, we can expect another season of the show but nothing is finalised yet.
