TV Shows With Disappointing Endings: Some TV shows or web shows become an integral part of our lives. Many of us take time out of our busy lives to watch every episode of our favourite show. Even if the show releases early in the morning or late at midnight, it doesn’t matter. Some people are dedicated to some characters and stories they watch on their screen.
But what if the show/ web series you have been watching religiously ends up on a disappointing note? Yes, that has happened with a lot of shows. The titles we include in our list contain some very popular shows with a huge fan following. Some may agree or not agree with us, but many people feel that that’s not how the story should’ve ended.
TV Shows With Disappointing Endings
Friends
The 90s popular sitcom has a huge fan following even today. It features Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow. Last year, the star cast had a reunion to celebrate the love they’ve been receiving from the beginning. The show ended with Rachel sacrificing her dream job in Paris and getting back with Ross.

I know there are arguments that they were meant to be, and they had a daughter together. But the two were a clear mismatch. Until Rachel leaves, Ross doesn’t grow much as a person. He never even respected her career and called it ‘just a job’. The two were better off without each other as friends. But well, the makers followed the typical style of making the couple reunite in the end!
Dexter
A serial killer who works in Miami’s homicide department kills the criminals. Starring Michael C Hall, the show was a rage when it started in 2006. However, in the last season, Dexter did something out of character.

After his sister’s death, Dexter dumps her body in the ocean as he did with his victims. He leaves his family and goes to Oregon and becomes a lumberjack. It just didn’t make sense…

Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is cited as one of the best TV shows made in the fantasy drama period genre. The show had a talented star cast – Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and many more. From season 1, the makers teased us a lot with the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen’s journey. A lot was promised for Jon Snow, and Arya and everyone wanted to see how Cersei, who has been a ruthless villain in the show dies.
But, in season 8, the writers destroyed every good character’s struggle, growth and journey. The makers wronged Jon Snow and Daenerys by making their characters look like nothing in the end. Arya prepared so much to take revenge on so many people. Well, that didn’t happen either. Oh, such a big disappointment. Let’s hope House of the Dragon doesn’t repeat the same mistake.
Dexter: New Blood
The creators of Dexter realised fans were unhappy with how the show ended in 2013. So they brought him back with Dexter: New Blood. Dexter lives with a new identity as Jim Lindsay. He works at a weapons show and is dating a copy named Angela. Harrison comes to Iron Lake as he’s upset his dad left him.
Harrison also has a dark side and a tendency to attack people. The makers built up the plot very well until the last episode. In the last episode, Harrison kills Dexter. Why? Well, we don’t even want to remember. The problem is not about Dexter being dead. It’s the way the makers tried to close his chapter. The ending felt incomplete and abrupt.
How I Met Your Mother
HIMYM stars Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders and Cristin Milioti. The entire story is about Ted (Josh) finding Tracy (the mother – Cristin). But the makers kill her and make Ted end up with Robin (his series off-again, on-again friend/best friend/partner played by Cobie). They break Robin and Barney’s (Niel) marriage. A painful story arc, only for Ted to go on a date with Robin at the end. Tracy’s relevance is diminished through this subplot.
