Pirate Gold of Adak Island: Redditors’ Hilarious Theories and Reactions Will Make You Rewatch the Show!

There are some shows that people enjoy, and then there are shows that leave the viewers baffled. Netflix’s docuseries Pirate Gold of Adak Island is one such series that has caught many people’s attention. It’s not often that we see a show where people dig deep and find gold coins. But the makers of the show have shown that it is possible.

Netflix has presented the docuseries in its dramatic and fascinating style. Some people love it too much, and some don’t. Some viewers believe that everything shown in Pirate Gold of Adak Island is fake; it’s scripted. They refuse to believe that there’s any gold underneath.

Reddit is one of the best platforms to read different reactions and theories. A lot of Redditors have shared their thoughts on what they think of the bizarre gold-digging island docuseries. A username ‘u/catcantcat’ asked, “Anyone watch this stuff on netflix. Ha. They have a wood detector. Ha.” The reply section is buzzing with many reactions.

One person shared, “They found 2 gold coins! But they suck at treasure hunting tho, and the one lady is annoying af.” Someone even shared how the show feels scripted, “I don’t understand their reasoning most of the time. It’s a reality show. It’s scripted bullsh*t like every other reality show. They have to drag things out to fill a season.”

“I am totally convinced they planted those gold coins so people wouldn’t feel like they wasted 8 episodes for nothing,” commented a user.

  1. I call B.S. I also think they planted those coins. The whole show is scripted. She almost falls on that stake!? B.S. I’m guessing the stake was probably there but she didn’t almost fall on it that was scripted. The whole thing was, then on the very last day they find one coin and a can with one coin. It was only because they couldn’t buy more coins, or they didn’t want their B.S. to come under too much scrutiny that they didn’t fill that can with coins. Just utter garbage! These kind of shows just insult our intelligence.

  2. Everybody saw how well the curse of oak Island did so Netflix jumped on the bandwagon and thought oh let’s do our own show like that it’s all a bunch of b******* if there was that much gold in the army came in and built around there they would have dug up all that gold and not told anybody That’s how the army is Don’t waste your time watching this garbage

  3. What a gorgeous island. Seems like an incredible place. Not to mention it was integral in defending against the Japanese when they attacked us during WW2. I’m rooting for Adak. It deserves to thrive after all the sacrifices that place made for us.

  4. I actually enjoyed parts of it. They used some remarkable technology and science to puzzle out the possibilities. Sure, made for TV but based on a real story of a pirate gone rouge. No violence or other nasty stuff just a mystery being solved in a unique part of the world. Booo to the haters.

  5. The great thing about the show is you can leave it playing and fall asleep on the couch for hours or even days without missing anything.

  6. Yeah cuz the army’s job when the one soldier found the can the first one, the army’s job was to stop building a base and fighting the war against the Japanese to look for all the gold.. I’m not going to say some of the stuff on that show wasn’t drawn out, it had to be drawn out but was it legit real yes I mean all you have to do is your own research there’s been multiple people that’s found treasures from pirates from the 1800s that showcased in museums, I mean we have the internet there’s Google it’s pretty simple to do your own research.

  7. I served for a year on Adak while in the Navy in the early 1970’s. I did hear rumors of treasure but the Rommel Stakes and explosive ordnance on the island made treasure hunting out of the question. I did my share of hiking around but the island weather is just wind, rain, snow, cold and repeat that hourly every day. The show is interesting and I do believe that there could be gold there. I like watching the show because I can identify places they are digging at. Good show, interesting.

  8. I was surprised at how clean and perfectly shaped the gold coins were. Given their age and the environment in which they had dwelt in for the past many, many years they appeared in mint condition. I find it hard to believe that coins minted 100 Not even the dirt from the searcher’s hands marked them.

  9. This is what America is best at! Exaggerate! Like the curse of oak island, just as bad. you better look at jerry springer. Everything is fake, even the gold is probably a chocolate coin. This kind of program is meant to attract as many viewers as possible to earn as many bags of gold as possible

  10. Wow jealous that two goons found 2 coins, no hes pointing out valid concerns we viewers have idiot. Its 100% scripted bs i dont doubt these people are seasoned treasure hunters but they didnt find shit and its all for the cameras, its says they wont get paid but netflix will 100% give them money regardless if they “found” abything

  11. I thought it interesting that the military didn’t find more coins when they were doing all the construction around the island.

  12. My daughter likes it, she’s six. What 6 year old doesn’t like digging for treasure. I like that they use science to deduce digging locations and that there is a female scientist making the deductions, and that my daughter sees this. At times I questioned the leaps and possibility that there is no gold, but my daughter is entertained and I like that she see’s a logical scientific deduction process to locate hidden things.

  13. My husband and I fast forwarded a lot. I tend to believe that the. Military found whatever was there, if rhere was ever anything there.

  14. Somewhat interesting, and I loved hearing when they got a hit. My theory is it was moved with all that dirt and kids found it as they were playing… finders keepers!

  15. OK ……so I was hooked, sorta, on the first episode. I think I was mostly taken by the island itself and then I started to settle in, again sorta. The acting went from bad to really bad.I would have preferred to just see a movie about the island itself without all the BS.. seeing footage of how great the surf is on Adak would have been way better.
The two coins were definitely planted or better yet bought.
Oh and one more thing what are the chances of finding those two inscribed rocks? Talk about a needle in a haystack.

I should have followed my instinct and set back, had a beer, and watched Ed Wood’s “ Plan 9 from Outer Space

  17. This show was jammed packed with cool history about an area technically a part of the United States that nobody knows about. Treasure or not the show was badass in the sense that it shows you a remote part of the world and describes the history of It. Crazy how many bombs there are!! Loved it.

  18. I enjoyed it. I’d watch another season. People who think it’s sucks have the power to shut it off. If they get permission to search Parcel 4, there will be another season.
