Off the Hook (Détox) is an upcoming quirky French comedy series, releasing on Netflix this week. The series is directed and the screenplay is written by Marie Jardillier, while it is produced by Lisa Leboff. It will follow Léa and her cousin Manon as they decide to take a break from the digital world for good or maybe worse.
The series is a comment on the thought that many have had in their lives of going away from the picture-perfect virtual lives and living a peaceful life with no distractions. While many do get off social media apps for detox, the two leads in the series go one step ahead and throw away their smartphones altogether.
Off the Hook Cast
The cast of the series includes Manon Azem, Tiphaine Daviot, Charlotte de Turckheim, Helena Noguerra, Zinedine Soualem, Oussama Kheddam, Laurent Bateau and Paul Muguruza.

Off the Hook Plot/Synopsis
The official synopsis of the series reads, “Realizing they both have a toxic relationship with the Internet, roommates Léa and Manon decide to do the unthinkable: abandon all devices for 30 days.” Thirty-something Lea and Manon turn their lives upside down when they go on a digital detox, bringing their whole families along on the challenge.
Like many young people, they spend a lot of time on their phones and they decide to do a detox, that is to say, to do without this tool that has become essential. So, no more phone, no internet for a month. A challenge that is not very obvious, especially since everything is done via smartphones at present.
As we can see in the trailer, the tone will obviously be very comical with offbeat situations. Léa and Manon are totally lost without their phone. But this experience should allow them to take control of their lives as they are trying to forget and get over their ex, the other to forget a bad buzz that leads to an embarrassing viral moment on the internet.
