Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Overview

Ninja Kamui is a captivating Japanese anime series brought to life by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with a touch of executive flair from Williams Street. Making its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, this show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. Steering the series is director Sunghoo Park, while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.

Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Review Memories From The Past

Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Other than that, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, called Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, is set to come out in the second quarter of 2024.

The theme song, “Vengeance,” by Coldrain, sets the stage as the opening of the show.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Review and Recap: An Elaborate Infiltration Plan

Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Review Memories From The Past

Things are finally starting to make more sense, as in this episode, we get a clear picture of Higan’s past. But it is not just him whose history we witness but also inspector Mike Morris’s background we get the chance to take a look into.

We realise why Mike is such a diligent police officer, who is ready to jump into the murky world of ninjas without even thinking about himself or his family. He really has nothing to lose at this point, and I suppose he believes only through helping another father can he finally get peace.

His bond with his partner Emma is also something that is very precious. Though Emma might pretend she’s doing everything for the glory and money, it is clear she respects her superior very much. Mike also takes into consideration whatever his junior says, and they really are the power duo who dream of bringing down the AUZA tech company.

In this episode, we also got some very important information about how Higan, Zai and Mari came to know each other and what their life was like before tragedy happened.

There is another very apt contrast between Mike Morris and Higan that we get to learn from their past. Both of these men have a strong sense of duty, but the way they handled things in the past is where the difference lies. Mike Morris chose his work over his family without expecting the sad outcomes. Whereas Higan chooses his family over his duty, fully knowing and understanding the consequences.

But whatever their past choices have been, now they are in the same position where they must fight for the good. Thankfully, they’re not alone, as an unidentified person who claims to be a ninja himself, wishes to help Higan infiltrate the AUZA base. Apparently, he too, is in hiding because he ditched the organization.

Now whether this is a trap or there is genuinely someone interested in helping Higan topple the AUZA group is something we’ll have to see in the next episode.

Verdict

This episode was again absolutely brilliant. What I love about this series is how well they maintain the pace. Not once do you feel like the series is dragging, and you really cannot miss a single scene, because you might lose lots of vital information. The conclusion of this episode promises a very intense next episode, and I am totally thrilled about that.
