You Are My Spring episode 16 recap

The first thing we learn in You Are My Spring episode 16 is that Da-jeong is going to fly to San Francisco in a month for some training. Yu-kyeong nags her to take her with Da-jeong, however, the latter refuses. Meanwhile, she’s a bit sad about going off for the duration, because obviously, she’ll be missing Young-do.

Then there is an extended scene where we see Ha-neul spotting Eun-ha with Tae-jeong and being upset about it. And the individual “couples”, Ha-neul with Seung-won and Eun-ha with Tae-jeong talking to each other about love and heartbreak. We also see Chase going to see Choi Jeong-min’s grave (?).

Later on, in You Are My Spring episode 16, Young-do laments about Da-jeong going off for the training. Apparently, they won’t be together for five days and they are already losing their minds over it. It’s cute to watch them acting like teenagers, and at the same time, it’s a bit annoying as well, as expressed by Cheol-do and A-ri.

The next day, everyone including Ko, Young-do, Da-jeong, Ha-nuel, Seung-won, Park Ho and Choi Sung-joon go to visit Lee Jeong-beom’s grave to bid him farewell, considering his case is finally over. Detective Ko has decided to resign and works at his mother’s restaurant which is so cute! However, the three rush off when they get a tip on the Hongju 4-dong case.

Later on, Da-jeong gets to know about Eun-ha’s relationship with Tae-jeong. She acts as if she can’t understand anything but I don’t understand why she freaks out about it this much. They are both adults? Eun-ha later reveals how it all started with Tae-jeong in front of him, Da-jeong and Young-do. Da-jeong never stops freaking out, which is so weird to me.

Later, in You Are My Spring episode 16, Da-jeong and Young-do go on a trip together as their building is under renovation. They switch their phones off to get some much-needed break and go off on a walk. They spend a nice day together and it’s all fun and cute.

Later, we see Chase in You Are My Spring episode 16, who seems to be wondering about Da-jeong and his relationship with Choi Jeong-min. We also see him getting therapy later for recurring nightmares and visions – the whole thing has left a deep impact on him. I expected him to play a bigger role in all of this, but he just became another mopey character in love with Da-jeong. I understand Da-jeong is a good character, but how does literally everyone just fall for her?

Anyway, as Young-do talks on the radio about the importance of talking to people and being empathetic and as Chase goes back to the US, we see how one small good deed results in a cascading effect that brings a smile to a lot of faces.

You Are My Spring episode 16

As the series tries to tie up all the loose ends of You Are My Spring season finale, it becomes apparent that there won’t be anything interesting to see here. The drama is good though, and it’s mostly very philosophical and happy. It’s not the thriller that it made us believe at first, with the truth being quite vanilla. More thought was clearly given to push the romance between the protagonists forward. I am fine with that, however, I can’t help but feel insanely disappointed at the missed opportunity.
