Netflix’s Nailed It! Season 4 Review: Time to Make Terrible Cakes

Nailed It! just came out with the fourth season of the reality TV show with a twist. The series is hosted by Nicole Byer with Jacques Torres as the judge. They are joined by a new celebrity guest from different fields in every episode.

This is such a delightful show to watch. But, first things first.  Nailed It! features three ordinary people, with no background in baking whatsoever, create magnificent cakes and cookies and other sweet things to impress the judges. The results, understandably, are disastrous. But the judges choose the best of the three, based on two criteria – look and taste.

The contestants belong to different backgrounds, are of different age groups, and are in different professions. Although most of them are into baking, it definitely isn’t even remotely close to professional. However, the challenges that they face are very difficult, and replicating them is honestly tough work.

With that in mind, it is commendable how much effort these people put behind something so tough. Everyone takes the challenge sportingly, and are very open to criticism. Almost all of the time the results of their baking turn out to be rather hilarious, which they take with a smile on their face. Trying to be the best of the worst might sound pretty easy, but there’s more that goes into it and is more difficult than it appears.

nailed it!

Additionally, the two hosts are delightful. Byer and Torres, the series regular, are such fun people. Byer is the loud one in the show, and so very over-the-top. However, it’s a delight to watch her be this person, especially with the strange bake-off taking place around her. She delivers jokes that are honestly funny, and her body language is great. On the other hand, judge Torres is more on the quieter side, although he’s very funny as well. We also have stage manager Wes, whose random walk-ins are just hilarious. These three keep the show lively and the audience entertained. If terribly made sweets were not enough, these three will definitely do it for you.

nailed it!

The show structure is very fun and lively as well. There is a nice mix of people who try to give their best in a fight they know they will lose. Their strength, determination and huge failures when it comes to replicating the cakes will make you laugh and keep you entertained.

Each episode also follows a specific theme, and everything that is made in that episode follows the theme. During one hilarious episode, Byer falls over the table and on the floor and then rolls away. It’s absolutely hilarious to watch.

Summing up: Nailed It!

nailed it!

If watching cake-offs is your passion, but you’re bored of all the shows that are there, Nailed It! Season 4 is your best bet right now. It’s almost like an anti-bake-off, and with its hosts being so funny and the contestants sporting, this makes for a wholesome watch. It’s entertaining and that’s all you can honestly ask from reality TV.

Nailed It! Season 4 is streaming on Netflix.
