Narco Saints Ending Explained: Will In-Gu Be Able To Leave the Pastor’s Kingdom?

Netflix is back with drug wars and the NIS in the latest crime thriller Narco Saints (수리남) and we are loving the game. Directed by Yoon Jong Bin, the series stars Ha Jung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, Park Hae-soo, Yoo Yeon-seok alongside other cast members.

Narco Saints is about a man involved in a National Intelligence Service (NIS) secret operation after being framed by a drug lord who controls South America Suriname under his thumb.

Netflix’s synopsis reads:

AN ORDINARY ENTREPRENEUR JOINS A SECRET GOVERNMENT MISSION TO CAPTURE A KOREAN DRUG LORD OPERATING IN SOUTH AMERICA. BASED ON TRUE EVENTS.

Narco Saints Ending Explained

The last episode of the show has everything falling into place as the DEA and NIS are able to capture Jeon Yu-han’s only loyal subordinate Lee Sang-jun in Puerto Rico. The agents then make their way to capture the Pastor himself and try to get Sang-jun to cooperate with them but when the latter tells the pastor to share a drink upon his return, the man is alerted.

The pastor starts to question In-ju but soon gets to know that the DEA has entered Suriname which becomes the start of a battle and chase that brings up the excitement of the show. While In-gu is saved by the agents when Yu-han tried to hold him hostage in order to escape, the former has dived too deep into this mess and chases after the drug lord through the forests of Suriname.

However, after an intense chase, Yu-han is captured by the agents and the protagonist and finally taken to prison. In-gu gets to go back home to his wife, kids and his normal life.

Six months later, Choi Changho comes to visit In-gu who is earning his expenses through his garage. He tells the latter that the NIS couldn’t pay him the promised money directly and instead offers him two karaoke bars which can be a better deal. However, In-gu rejects the offer as that will only get him busier and his life right now is better than ever.

Having understood his point, Changho then tells him about his visit to Yu-han in prison where he told him that while he may have falsified many autographs by celebrities, the ball he gave to In-ju was the real deal. The same ball can be sold for the fortune that made In-ju leave his home in episode 1.

With this, the show comes to an end.

Will there be a Season 2?

While the excitement of the drug world never dies down, I don’t think there is much room for a season 2 if we concentrate on In-gu’s story. The man has learnt his lesson and would rather live a peaceful life than take out his businessman skills out for another round of chase.

Honestly, the relationship between Yu-han and In-ju really made this show more interesting and it won’t be a bad idea to see more of it.

So if there is a sequel then it may be from the pastor’s point of view that may find a new route for the show which could bring In-gu back if the makers ever decide on a season 2.
