Nanny Trailer: Anna Diop’s Chance At Getting Her Son Back Lands Her In Some Horrifying Situations

The Nanny trailer featuring Anna Diop in a fresh role has recently been released by Amazon Prime Video. The upcoming horror film looks like something Jordan Peele fans will surely appreciate and gives us a rather new take on the genre.

Nanny is written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu. This is going to mark Jusu’s directorial debut. It is produced by Stay Gold Features, Topic Studios and LinLay Productions and distributed by Amazon Studios along with Blumhouse Productions. The film will feature Anna Diop as Aisha, Michelle Monaghan as Amy, Sinqua Walls as Malik, Morgan Spector as Adam, Rose Decker as Rose, Leslie Uggams as Kathleen, Zephani Idoko as Sallay and Princess Adenike as Nikki.

The trailer description for Nanny reads: “In this psychological fable of horror, Aisha (Anna Diop), a woman who recently emigrated from Senegal, is hired to care for the daughter of an affluent couple (Michelle Monaghan and Morgan Spector) living in New York City. Haunted by the absence of the young son she left behind, Aisha hopes her new job will afford her the chance to bring him to the U.S..”

“But becomes increasingly unsettled by the family’s volatile home life. As his arrival approaches, a violent presence begins to invade both her dreams and her reality, threatening the American dream she is painstakingly piecing together.”

In the Nanny trailer, we see Aisha work as a child help for a couple in NYC and while she works in the household, she starts experiencing supernatural things. These supernatural things as shown in the trailer include her reflection coming to life, the corners of the wall turning black and more. As Aisha tries to figure out what is happening to her, she gets the advice that these are spirits trying to give her signs. Now, will she follow the signs or is this a wrong interpretation altogether and Aisha’s life might be in danger is what remains to be unfolded in the course of the film.

The 2022 film Nanny will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on December 16, 2022. However, prior to hitting the OTT platform, the film will receive a theatrical release on November 23, 2022. The film has already had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2022.
