My Troublesome Star Episode 5 Recap
The episode opens right after last week, when Cheol saves Se-ra from the hands of the abusive film star. However, Se-ra refuses to leave and comes back on set to be insulted some more. Either way, Cheol asks her to take care and not trust anyone completely until she gets her memory back.
The next day, Se-ra decides to give up her day job and pursue acting full-time, while Cheol, having taken photos at the shoot site, goes through them, hoping that Se-ra’s attacker might be nearby. Unfortunately for Se-ra, she gets the news on her next shoot day that she’s being let go and immediately takes it upon herself to talk to the writer. However, there, too, she goes nowhere at first as the writer laments about the broadcasting station’s ridiculous demands. In the end, thankfully, she can manipulate the writer to get herself into the story once more.

However, in the faux struggle with Nam-ju, she ends up passing out and remembers fragments of her past. At the station, Cheol gets a key piece of information and arrives at Gwak Jeong-do’s hideout to find the car that he saw on the CCTV footage. When Se-ra comes to, meanwhile, she can’t help but ask her why she was alone on the night of her accident. She tells her all that she remembers, and Se-ra eventually shares that she remembered a watch that matched the person who attacked her 25 years ago.
To do this, she decides to meet Du-won and, of course, no one lets her in at first until Cheol arrives there thanks to Tae-sook’s insistence. When she finally meets Du-won, she is surprised to learn that he was waiting to speak to her as well.
My Troublesome Star Episode 5 Review

You know, I love a mystery-drama series as much as the next person, but there’s just some a bit amiss with this drama that is getting on my nerves a bit. From Se-ra’s childish antics that are completely improbable to the pacing, everything never comes together somehow. Although the story is quite interesting, I am finding it harder to get behind Se-ra and truly root for her. Plus, I think Uhm Jung-hwa’s acting is very loud and obnoxious at times and feels out of place for her character. Either way, I am interested to know where the drama is headed, at least. Hopefully, the resolution leaves us shocked… at least Song Seung-heon never disappoints!
