My Troublesome Star Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens right after episode 1, wherein Cheol takes Se-ra home, while Du-won, who used to be her action coordinator, spots her in the hospital. She is shocked to learn that she lives in a gosiwon, and despite her protests, Cheol leaves her at the doorstep and runs off. Later on, he finds her purse and can’t help but wonder whether or not she was lying about being Se-ra. Even though he refuses to believe it, the thought doesn’t leave his mind. Se-ra, meanwhile, struggles with everyday life as she is unable to remember anything, including turning on her phone.

Trying to call her sister, she goes to the terrace to get a signal on her phone, and Cheol, thinking that she’s attempting to take her life, runs to stop her. Of course, he slips and bumps into him, causing both of them to tumble over into a rubbish van. Annoyed and frustrated, she lashes out at him to stay away from her, but that’s not going to happen so easily. The next day, she decides to visit the businesses whose cards she has in her wallet, but is caught on the subway for trying to travel without a ticket. Cheol saves her but decides to block her.

Se-ra eventually arrives at the dumpling shop and is shocked to see Baek-ja working there. She is even more shocked to see her niece and lashes out at Baek-ja for her choices instead of learning everything that happened between them. Se-ra is eventually called to work and is confused about what she is doing, unable to use a knife. She is eventually able to get her work done, but drops kimchi on the passengers on her way home, getting into another set of problems.

Elsewhere, Du-won meets Hui-yeong for a business meeting, but the two end up getting into a nasty fight as she is still living in Se-ra’s shadow. Meanwhile, the news of 2ONE Entertainment’s stock price plummeting thanks to Hui-yeong’s contract ending reaches Cheol, and he can’t help but think back to the time he spent with Se-ra.

Later that night, Cheol goes through the GPS footage of the truck driver who caused the accident and is surprised to learn that he was also at Jumbo Gosiwon like Se-ra, circling the area. Doubtful, he decides to ask another officer about the driver and is surprised to learn that the driver was asking odd questions about whether or not Se-ra will be alive after the attack. He is further shocked to learn that the driver took Se-ra’s number to give her a settlement, and, thinking the worst, Cheol rushes to find her.

When he finally gets through to her, he yells at her to go back to the gosiwon, but it’s too late; the killer catches up to her.

In the epilogue, a young Cheol tries to meet Se-ra, but is stopped at the door. As he is forcefully escorted out, he implores her to wake up, and Se-ra’s hand moves just a bit.

I think it’s interesting how Se-ra, with amnesia, is so hell-bent on destroying every relationship around her, thanks to her rude and hard-headed behaviour, instead of trying to piece her memory together. That being said, I think the story surrounding Se-ra’s accident, Hui-yeong’s involvement and Se-ra’s comeback is going to be very engaging and thrilling although I can’t say that I am the biggest fan of the humour in the show.
