My Name is Gabriel Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins with Myung-soo’s life as Vooti in Thailand. True to his nature, Myung-soo is hilariously careless, often messing up while cooking. His natural wit endears him to everyone, regardless of his mistakes. When Su tries to teach him to cut vegetables, he keeps missing, making her laugh and walk away. Every mishap in the kitchen, while mildly frustrating for Su and Jaem, adds to the comedic charm of Myung-soo’s antics. Eventually, they finish making Som Tam and prepare for the sellout.

As Vooti, Myung-soo gets ready with the Som Tam he prepared with Su and Jaem. Su accompanies him to the main street to sell it. When they set up shop, Myung-soo humorously attempts to increase profit by slightly cutting down on supplies. However, one customer helps herself to extra peanuts, and Su assists her. Myung-soo jokingly comments about profit and imitates the iconic Salt Bae chef by adding ingredients with flair.
Despite a slow start with just a few customers, they soon sell out. When children arrive, Su asks Myung-soo to give them food for free, noting that the real Vooti would do the same. Myung-soo obliges, offering Som Tam to the kids at no cost. As their time ends, Vooti’s wife thanks Myung-soo, praising Vooti as a kind and outgoing man. Myung-soo’s 72 hours as Vooti concludes with a heartfelt message from him.

The episode then transitions to Bogum’s life as Ruaidhri. Dedicated to his choir mates, Bogum practices diligently to ensure their efforts are not in vain. He arrives early at the rehearsal room, sets up chairs, and practices alone. Defconn, Min-kyung, and Hae-ri are impressed by his dedication. As the choir members arrive, they proceed with rehearsal and perform exceptionally well.
After the rehearsal, Bogum unveils the “Rampants” banners, exciting the crew. They then head to the street to busk, delivering a performance that moves everyone to tears. Bogum sings with profound emotion, and the choir’s harmonies make the performance magical. The crowd cheers enthusiastically, and one choir member humorously refers to Bogum as Ruaidhri, noting it’s his first time busking with him.

The choir celebrates their success at a resto-bar, surprising Bogum with a song that brings him to tears. They present him with a signed Rampants banner, each member leaving a personal message. One choir member even writes a letter in Korean, which Bogum reads in his room, feeling deeply touched. Watching this moment on screen, Bogum cries, and Defconn comforts him.
Bogum’s 72 hours as Ruaidhri end with a light switching on in Ruaidhri’s room, symbolizing the real Ruaidhri’s return. As the episode concludes, Bogum shares the gifts he received from the Rampants brothers with the commentary cast. A video reveals the real Ruaidhri, and to Bogum’s surprise, he realizes he met and spoke to Ruaidhri twice without knowing it. Similarly, Vooti had come as a customer to eat Myung-soo’s Som Tam. The episode ends on a warm, heartwarming note.

My Name is Gabriel Episode 3 Review
I absolutely teared up when Bogum’s life as Ruaidhri came to an end. Despite only spending 72 hours with them, the bond he shared with each choir member and the effort he put into not letting them down was beautiful to witness. His dedication to practicing arduously and his gracious performance in front of the crowd, seeking comfort from his choir members, showcased his innate goodness.
Similarly, Myung-soo, despite being a naturally humorous man whose episode was filled with jokes and laughter, proved to be a genuinely good person. No matter how much Su teased him, he kept his cool and played along, especially considering his age. He had immense fun with the Thai people and blended in effortlessly. His adaptive nature and goofiness ensured that those around him were always happy.
