My Man is Cupid Episode 9 Recap and Review: My Man is Cupid (내 남자는 큐피드) has finally come out this December 2023 with a stunning cast and a great plot. The series is directed by Nam Tae-jin, who is known for his hit dramas such as Jinx, Beautiful Gong Shim, overs of the Red Sky, Joseon Exorcist, etc, and he has worked along with scriptwriter Heo Seung-hee (renowned for One More Happy Ending) for this series. The main cast includes Jang Dang-yoon, Nana and Park Ki-woong.

Cheon Sang-hyuk, a charming fairy renowned for his ability to enchant women and men, endured a tragic event 500 years ago when his wings were scorched. In a quest for wing restoration, he underwent 27 transformative experiences. However, his 28th attempt becomes entangled with the life of Oh Baek-ryun.
Baek-ryun, a striking woman working as a veterinarian in an animal clinic, grapples with a peculiar curse. Men smitten by her charm inevitably face near-death experiences, leading them to end their relationships abruptly. Despite her undeniable allure, Baek Ryun refrains from pursuing romantic entanglements, hoping to cross paths with a man destined to be her true love.

My Man is Cupid Episode 9 Recap
In a surprising turn of events, Officer Jae-Hee stumbles upon Sang-Hyuk on the rooftop, wielding a long gun that shoots cupid arrows, causing unsuspecting victims to fall in love. Jae-hee misinterprets the gun but thankfully Sang-hyuk comes up with a good way out without revealing that he is a cupid (obviously, who will believe?)
Jae-Hee’s suspicions about Sang-Hyuk deepen as he recognizes pictures of an inspector connected to Jeong-ah’s death case, often described as the Polka Dot Case. Since the man in the old pictures bear an uncanny resemblance to Sang-Hyuk (it is Sang-hyuk but Jae-hee doesn’t understand how back in 1993, he wasn’t a small kid but a young man), Jae-hee becomes extremely suspicious. Sang-Hyuk cleverly conceals his true identity by claiming it was his father, attributing their striking similarity to familial genetics.

Later in the episode, the tension between the two men persists as they share a meal, and Sang-Hyuk seizes the opportunity to probe Jae-Hee about his feelings for Oh Baek-Ryun. Jae-Hee candidly confesses his attraction and emotions for Baek-Ryun, prompting Sang-Hyuk to evade the same question. This prompts Jae-Hee to label Sang-Hyuk a coward for his apparent inability to confront his feelings (Sang-hyuk, what are you even waiting for?)
Meanwhile, Sang-Hyuk and Baek-Ryun find themselves unable to shake the memories of their intense and passionate kiss from the previous night. Their emotions for each other become increasingly undeniable and intense. When Baek-Ryun meets Sang-Hyuk later that night, she admits to not regretting the kiss and attributes it to the influence of alcohol, admitting she lacked the courage to do so soberly.
Towards the end of this episode, Baek-Ryun makes a dramatic entrance at the police station, wearing a dark gothic look that startles everyone. She then leads both Sang-Hyuk and Jae-Hee to a location recurrent in her dreams, unaware that it holds significance for Sang-Hyuk and was once Yoo Jeong-Ah’s residence. Inside the vacant home, Sang-Hyuk reminisces about Jeong-Ah and begins to notice the striking similarities between her and Baek-Ryun.
Fearing that a similar tragic fate may befall Baek-Ryun, Sang-Hyuk grapples with his emotions and decides to intervene by using his cupid arrow to make her fall in love with Officer Jae-Hee. The episode concludes with Sang-Hyuk, poised with his cupid arrow, aiming at the two of them seated side by side, setting the stage for a complex romantic entanglement.

I am so glad Baek-ryun remembers the kiss but man in my opinion it still doesn’t justify him kissing her when she was drunk. She kissed him on the cheek, let’s be clear. Then he pulled her in for a deep make-out sesh, come on? It is inappropriate, regardless of her having feelings for him. Such first kisses must not be conveyed like this.
Now the next question is? What will happen if Sang-hyuk’s gun once again misses and the arrow gets shot at him? Will he face charges for it or will he start aging finally and become human? Or what if he actually shoots the arrow at Jae-hee and unites them two? However, she doesn’t even have a red thread attached to her then how can he force a connection? All these questions will have its answer, tomorrow!
