Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4- Overview

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 Title

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 is produced by Kyoto Animation as part of the Summer Anime 2021 Lineup. The series acts as the direct sequel to its 2017 original. It is being directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who is also well known for directing various other Kyoto Animation anime such as Air and Clannad. Season 1 director Yasuhiro Takemoto also shares billing for the director after his untimely death due to the Kyoto Animation arson tragedy.

Episode 4 picks up right where episode 3 left off, with the series taking a more narrative-driven approach rather than the first season’s mostly standalone episodes. All the usual suspects are also back, including a new character named Ilulu. The series is also known as Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 Review- The Plot and Characters

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 Plot

This was brilliant, and one of the best episodes of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid I’ve ever seen. I was scared there for a while because of the tragedies that have befallen KyoAni. I would have given this season a pass even if it wasn’t that good because if any studio has earned a break, it’s them. My concern seems to have been utterly misguided because Kyoto Animation has knocked Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 out of the park.

Everything that people have ever loved about this show had a strong showing in this episode. The comedy was fantastic, the characters got a lot of time to shine, the episode had a significant emotional core, and the side characters all showed up in full force. Lucoa wasn’t seen in this episode either, which is always a plus. Most of all, this episode was so sweet I almost got high blood sugar from going “Aww” over and over again.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 Plot 2

From episode 1 until now, the show has adopted a sinusoidal wave pattern of quality, as it seems to be falling and rising every episode. Mind you, it never “falls” much, but some episodes do shine a bit less than the others. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 was among the bright shiners for sure.

The first half of this episode involved Elma dealing with Miss Kobayashi and Tohru in her charming way. Her competitive nature is also redeemed, and Kobayashi once again proves herself to be a great human being. The second half sees the gang go to an adventure park, and hilarity ensues. Some delightful skits and wacky comedy later, you have a perfect Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid episode.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 4 Review- The Art and Music

The day I’ve been dreading has arrived, and for once, I have absolutely nothing to say about the animation and music. They were great, of course, but there wasn’t anything special to make a note about. Just some usual fantastic work by Kyoto Animation.
