Met Gala 2023 is anticipated as the biggest night in fashion as the celebrities grace the red carpet with their exorbitant outfits, in accordance with the grand themes of every year. While we look forward to our favourite stars like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Madonna and many others to witness the amazing outfits they bring to the event, there are a few celebrities though, which we might not see walking the red carpet at all.
Since last year, there have been speculations about the infamous Kardashian-Jenner clan being banned from the event, due to Kim Kardashian’s outfit fiasco. Whether they will be making an appearance or not, is not yet confirmed but we have curated a list of celebrities who are banned from the Met Gala, courtesy of the event organiser Anna Wintour.
Celebrities Banned from Met Gala 2023
Donald Trump
While seeing his name on the list shouldn’t come as a surprise to many as Anna Wintour herself confirmed on The Late Late Show with James Corden, that she would never invite Donald Trump back. Although, he used to be a regular & even proposed to his wife Melania, on the event’s red carpet in 2004. But his comments about getting it for a cheaper price might not have matched the luxurious fashion event.
Rachel Zoe
Designer Rachel Zoe actually got herself disinvited from the list after she said that she was more influential than Wintour, in an interview in 2007. Although she did return in 2012 and has been styling others for the carpet too.
Tim Gunn
Another person who got banned for speaking their unfiltered mind is Fashion TV personality, Tim Gunn. In an interview, he answered the most unforgettable thing ever seen in fashion as – Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards from a fashion show. Precisely, Wintour didn’t appreciate his comments & they have been in an open war since.
Jameela Jamil
Ever since the theme of this year’s event was revealed, the actress slammed them for celebrating the late Karl Lagerfeld, who was a talented man but also did some problematic things which he never apologised for. Jameela Jamil openly expressed her opposition & looking at Wintour’s past record, it’s certain that the actress will not be making it to the invite list.

Celebrities Who Decided to Boycott Due to Bad Experience
Tina Fey
Tina Fey attended the Met Gala in 2010 and never returned back. Apparently, she didn’t want to go back because of all the people that attend the fashion event. She told David Letterman in an interview in 2015 saying, “It’s this beautiful space and it’s just every jerk from every walk of life is there wearing, like, some stupid thing.”
Demi Lovato
The singer attended the event only once in her life in 2016 & has refused to go back, calling it fake and uncomfortable. Also, she later revealed that one celeb was being very mean to her & was really miserable to be around, adding to the discomfort. If anything, it’s confirmed that being well-dressed doesn’t guarantee the best behaviour as well.
Zayn Malik
Since attending in 2016 and making quite a few headlines with his ex-wife Gigi Hadid, the singer now absolutely refuses to ever go back. He commented that he rather do something productive at home than being so self-indulgent on the carpet.
Met Gala 2023 is set to be held on the 1st of May 2023 and will start at 6:30 PM Eastern Time, which means it will be available on the 2nd of May 2023 at 4 AM IST.
