As kids, mermaids were always the theme that took over every party between the ages of 5 and 10. Still, some people realise that they can probably be mermaids forever, especially the people in this new docuseries, MerPeople. Amidst all this mermaid slander, given the release of The Little Mermaid in theatres, this new and absurd Netflix documentary will probably fuel the fire or share how something as innocuous as mermaids can be incredibly crazy.
MerPeople is a four-episode docuseries directed by Cynthia Wade and produced by Angela Almeida. The series comes from the Emmy award-winning producer of Queer Eye, David Collins and will be joined by the story producer, Olivia Becker. It is shot by cinematographer Boaz Freund, and the music is produced by Adam Akio Crystal.

MerPeople Cast
This series will star Eric Ducharme, Eric The Blixumani Milligan, Hannah Fraser, Adrienne Wilson, Tasha Haight, Tara Spaid and other experts and mermaids who will be featured later. All of those mentioned above professionally pursue the craft of being a mermaid and also share how they do so in the series.
MerPeople Plot/Synopsis
The trailer starts off by sharing that we all understand the way mermaids make us feel magical. However, even though the lore is mythical and every instance of this proves that mermaids are not real, maybe it isn’t for us to decide. That there is a way to pursue this magic without causing harm to anyone while also building a multi-million dollar industry with it. We see a large group of mermaids together by the pool, waiting for their cue so they can jump in.
Meanwhile, we get a snippet of just how rewarding and taxing this life can be. Understanding that being a mermaid is not possible in Arkansas or feeling all the human physiological effects while pretending to be a humanoid character is the disconnect that causes people to rethink this entire lifestyle. There are pageants, competitions, auditions, shows and many other things that make it the booming business force that it is.
