Today’s episode starts with Chef Garima Arora’s personal story of how she had to cook a big number of oysters in Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen and in the pressure, she accidentally cut her hand and landed in the emergency room 30 minutes later. But she came back the next day to work and through this story, she wanted to motivate the contestants to work their best.

Donning black aprons again, its time for another pressure test of the season, which will lead to another elimination today. But before the test, green team captain Priyanka was asked to save one contestant whom she thought did their best, and she chose Priya, who got safe. Last time the contestants had to replicate the judges made dishes. However, today they will have to replicate a guest Chef’s dish, which is revealed to be Anahita Dhondy, known for the first SodaBottleOpenerWala restaurant in New Delhi.

She made a Parsi dish called Bhaji dana Ma Gosht, which she first tried in an old age home in Gujarat. The dish consisted of a Amaranth tuile/crisp on top, pea puree, crispy spinach, kachumbar, Gajar mewa nu achar, its foam and puree, along with the main ingredient a potato and mutton stuffed roll/roulade.

Although the dish looked fairly simple, but the number of ingredients and the details in plating, as well as the taste was the real test for the contestants. They were given 90 minutes in total to cook everything and by the end of the challenge, only five will be safe. From counter 1 to the end, everyone seem to be struggling either to cook mutton properly or to make the potato roll and the correct thickness of slices.

The contestants were busy making and plating the dishes till the end, especially Dyuti was struggling as her pan caught fire too. Unfortunately, she couldn’t do the plating due to mental breakdown. Moving on Santa was called upon first with her dish. The judges complimented that the plating was bit similar to the original but some elements could have been better.

Second was Suvarna, whose dish disappointed the judges as the potatoes thickness was different and undercooked, whereas the mutton was overcooked. Tuile was also not in the intended shape and judges found no particular high point in the dish. Next was Dyuti, who came empty handed but the judges asked her to plate in front of them with the ingredients that were ready.

Two ingredients – tuile and foam was missing but her sauce was said to be the closest to what Chef Anahita had made. She got reprimanded by the judges for not managing the time even though they had reminded her about it. Following this, Priyanka presented her dish which was praised by everyone for the presentation, precision as well as taste. Chef Anahita also said it was the closest to her dish.

Sachin’s dish was also missing foam and the mutton was undercooked. But the judges pointed out how his dish was very mediocre and he just wanted to get done with the challenge, rather than actually putting his heart into it. Similarly in Yashu’s dish although all the ingredients were there, he couldn’t manage to catch the details as his ingredients were undercooked with no seasoning.

Final Thoughts: MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 15

At the end of the challenge, the judges were not impressed with how the contestants performed today. They commented how there was no pride or flavour in the dishes except for Priyanka, whose became the dish of the day. But due to the bad performance by others, the judges decided to eliminate two contestants instead of just one.

Dyuti, whose dish was not done on time and Yashu – whose dish had no flavours, were eliminated from the competition. Leaving only 12 contestants who will compete in the weeks ahead. Looking at how the task went yesterday, the green team was definitely discouraged and not completely in the game. This reflected in their performance as they just wanted to get done with it quickly.

Dyuti’s elimination was expected, looking at service challenge even, as she seemed to lose her initial motivation, when she got into the show. Yashu was also not a surprise since he barely got screentime in any episode, so it was expected that he would be out of the competition soon.

MasterChef India Season 7 is currently streaming on SonyLIV and a new episode is released from Monday to Friday at 9 PM.

  1. Bhaji Dana ma Ghosh original dish and Gajar mewa nu Achar is completely different then what shown on Master chef by Chef Anahita. This two dishes are traditional and must be made in authentic ways only. It gave me deep pain seeing how it was presented on Master chef. Our traditional parsee masalas are used to prepare this dishes and cannot be justified by presenting in fusion way. I have been cooking since past 35 years. I have seen my great grandmother and grandmother prepare this original dishes. Please chef don’t make mess of our traditional dishes. Try to keep up its original look and taste. Original dishes too can be presented in good way.
