MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 58 Review: Home Cook to Pro Cook

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 58 is called ‘Fast Track to the Semi Finals’. We now have our Top 4 contestants – Billie, Dan, Keyma and Sarah. In the new episode, one of them will enter the semi-finale and be the first in the Top 3. However, they must excel in two rounds – Home Cook and Pro Cook.

The synopsis reads, “Back in the MasterChef kitchen, contestants learn that the winner of today’s two-round immunity challenge will be fast-tracked straight through to the Semi-Final.”

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 59 Recap Contains Spoilers

In MasterChef Australia Season 4 Episode 59, judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo explain the rules to the contestants. There are 4 simple home kitchens set up in the MasterChef kitchen. The small kitchens have the equipment, ingredients, vegetables and protein one will find in the kitchen. The 4 cooks have to make a delicious dish using simple equipment and ingredients.

Two contestants who cook the best dishes will be sent to the Pro Cook round. For the Home Cook round, the contestants get 60 minutes. They have no access to the pantry and the garden area.

Keyma cooks the Caribbean-inspired spiced chicken curry with Cucumber and pickled onion salad for round one. Keyma overcooks her rice and decides not to serve it with the curry. The judges love the chicken curry but believe it needed something to complete the dish.

Daniel made Vegemite and Cheese Cottage Pie. While the judges say that his dish is good, the flavour didn’t get fully through his pie. Billie makes a desert – Apple Crumble and Parfait. All three judges love Billie’s dish. The judges also praise Sarah’s Boudin Blanc and a Cassoulet. Hence, Sarah and Billie get into the next round of MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 58.

The next round is a Pro Cook round, where Billie and Sarah will get a kitchen that’s just like a chef’s kitchen. It has all the fancy equipments, different kinds of utensils and much more. Both the contestants are overwhelmed to see such a huge kitchen space with many options available.

The duo gets 90 minutes to cook their next dish. Whoever cooks the best dish will straight away make it to the semi-final. Sarah and Billie have access to the pantry and garden area.

Billie makes a dessert dish her Nan would make a lot. It’s called Saffron Mousse with a Cherry Sauce and white chocolate crumb, aka Nan’s Peaches. The judges are blown away by the deliciousness of her dish.

Sarah decides to pack in many flavours using scallops, herbs and prawns. She cooks Confit Scallops with Herb Beurre Blanc. The judges like the cook on the scallops but are confused with the flavour, especially the beurre blanc.

After tasting both the dishes, the judges come to a decision. They share with the contestants that Billie cooked the best dish in round two. Hence, she gets a direct entry in the semi-finals and is the first Top 3 contestant.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 59 Review: Final Thoughts

I enjoyed the Home Cook and the Pro Cook setting in the new MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode. I think rice shouldn’t have been an issue for Keyma’s chicken curry. Her main dish was the curry, and she nailed it.

The new episode is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
