MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 35 Review: Oh My Cod!

After Minoli and Maja made it to the competition again, it was elimination time. MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 35 presented an Elimination Challenge like never before. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, invited fish butchery expert and chef Josh Niland.

Josh Niland flaunted his butchery skills on a Murray cod. He showed the Masterchef Australia Season 13 contestants how to make three dishes with one cod – entree, main and dessert. The contestants are blown away by his precision in cut and his phenomenal cooking skills.

The judges announced that MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 35 is called Three Dishes from One Cod Elimination Challenge. The 15 cooks have to cook a dish using Murray Cod in 30 minutes. The makers of the eight best dishes will be saved from going to the next round. Using the same leftover cod in the second round, the remaining seven cooks have to make another delicious dish in 45 minutes. Whoever cooks the top 4 dishes will be saved from entering round three.

In round three, the remaining 3 MasterChef Australia contestants must use whatever is left of the same Murray Cod. They will get 60 minutes, and it will be their last chance to make a good dish. Whoever fails in the third round gets eliminated from the competition.

In the first round, Aaron, Brent, Depinder, Elise, Justin, Sabina, Scott, and Tommy serve the best fish dish. Josh Niland and the MasterChef judges are highly impressed with Brent’s Brent’s Battered Cod Taco and Sabina’s BBQ Murray cod belly with a tamarind coconut relish, toasted coconut and fresh aromatics.

For the first round of MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 35, Miloni prepares Sri Lankan Murray cod curry with coconut sambal and rice. The judges loved her curry a lot. Unfortunately, her fish was a bit raw. Hence, she couldn’t be a part of the first eight safe contestants. So the contestants in round two are Minoli, Kishwar, Linda, Maja, Amir, Pete and Dan. They get 45 minutes to cook a delicious dish using the remaining of their Murray Cod.

In round two, Kishwar makes the judges happy with her dish, Bhapa (Steamed) Cod. Linda and Maja also win their compliments with their dishes Deep-fried Murray cod and Murray River Cod with greens. Minoli repeats her first dish and is the first to go to the gantry as the judges love her dish a lot. Pete, Amir and Dan make the least impressive dish and hence, they enter round three.

In round three, Amir, Dan and Pete get 60 minutes to cook another cod dish using whatever is left of the fish. Pete decides to experiment and cook something he has never done before. He serves delicate and delicious Poached Murray Cod, which the judges enjoy eating. Amir makes fish dumplings which had some flaws. Dan’s Murray Cod Laksa is the weakest dish, and hence, he gets eliminated from MasterChef Australia Season 13.
