Mashle Season 2 Episode 8 Review and Recap – Innocent Zero Vs Wahlberg

Today’s episode was definitely one of the most intense and best in the series. The makers have been slowly levelling up the bar, and I am really happy with how Mashle Season 2 is turning out to be. We start when Innocent Zero crashes the tournament and reveals a groundbreaking secret. Apparently, Mash is his son, whom he needs to become the perfect human.
He will use Mash and perhaps absorb his powers to make himself immortal. And it is for this reason, he is here to kidnap his son whom he abandoned or lost a long time back. But obviously, his time-stopping magic does not work on headmaster Wahlberg, who challenges Innocent Zero for a one-on-one battle as no one else can keep up with him. This is when an all-out brawl starts and Wahlberg releases some of the key people from Easton who can take other villains down while he fights with innocent Zero himself.

This episode was definitely the best when it comes to fighting. Here, we see every important character who has a strong magical power at the top of their element, defeating the evil forces left and right. And again, the comedy was not lost from the episode. The scene where Dott and Lance turn into babies is hilarious. They could not use magic and had to babble incoherent words in serious circumstances, making an intense fight a joke of a problem.
We also got some background information about Innocent Zero and the world of this anime. How magic started and who started the Academy, everything was answered. But what is still not clear is the obvious lineage of Mash. How can he be the biological son of Innocent Zero, and if he is, then what is he doing with his current grandfather? These are some of the questions that need to be answered. Hopefully, we will get all the information in the next episode.

Verdict
I enjoyed this episode thoroughly, as we get to see a perfect balance of action and humour. The animation is great as well, paired with some very good background music. I’m specifically excited about the next episode cause the conclusion of this one ended at a pretty nasty cliffhanger.
We are finally at a point in the story when the real villain has showed up so we can expect great but dangerous things. So, without further ado, just go and watch this series.
