Mashle Season 2 Episode 1 Review and Recap – A Lethal Rumour
The episode picks up right from where season 1 ended, and we see an introduction about the divine visionaries who will be a very important part of this season. Right from the beginning, the tone of the episode is not serious at all even, when a serious thing is going on. The truth that Mash cannot use magic has spread around the school like wildfire, and now almost everyone suspects him to be powerless. We see the consequences of this rumour when a student blames Mash for being magicless and Mash, being himself, shortcircuits without being able to assert his point.
But what he can be thankful for is the fact that he is surrounded by such great friends who are willing to defend him in any situation. His friend group, which started not very long ago, has not just strengthened but also got bigger. Now, even his enemies from Lang house are with him and are willing to help him if need be. Perhaps the most hilarious yet out-of-place scene of the episode is Abel, Abyss and Love spending time in Mash’s dorm, attending their success party.

This is where Abyss and Mash talk about the evil organisation Innocent Zero and their past association with Abel. He warns Mash about them and informs him how they might come for him this time. Innocent Zero seems to be the main antagonist of this season, and only later we will know what their intentions are. Apart from that, we also saw many other significant characters who might not be Mash’s allies right now.
They are divine visionaries who do not appreciate Mash being without magic and hiding that fact to get into the academy. Their conduct towards Mash raises the question of whether they might become a problem for him, at least for now. But there should not be anything for us to worry about as Mash’s allies outweigh his enemies thanks to his weird but endearing personality.
I must mention the opening theme for this season is hilariously addictive, with the animation being very funky. Other than as of now, it seems that the tone and the pace will be similar to that of season one.

Verdict
The first episode of this season is decent enough that you can start watching it. But it is nothing too extraordinary, which is understandable as we are barely starting out. I do have high expectations from the upcoming episodes and would love to see where the story goes from here. Other than that, I love the slapstick comedy and the inclusion of random funny moments in serious scenes.
All in all, this is a nice start, and I will definitely look forward to what the next episode will deliver.
